The Thursday Thinker: Pondering Plunkings
Everyone loves some alliteration, right?
This week's edition of the Thinker is focused on hit by pitches. Twenty-five Brewer batters have been hit by a pitch at least 18 times in their careers. How many can you name in eight minutes?
To make it a little easier on you, I've given you the number of HBP, and more importantly, the seasons the player spent as a Brewer. With those hints, I wouldn't be surprised to see someone knock down as many as 21 or 22 of them. Even if you've only followed baseball for a few seasons, there's probably eight or so of them you'll immediately know and more you can guess from the hints.
The same rules as last week apply here: Post your score in the comments, but don't comment on any specific answer until after 6 pm, so everyone gets a chance to try it out without having it spoiled for them. And, of course, there's no reason to cheat here, because there's no prizes. If you're only interested in prizes, perhaps you should try this contest instead.
So, have fun, and don't forget to post your score in the comments!

I got 13, but could you please explain the premise of this one?
It says “Can you name the 25 Brewers with at least 18 career HBP?” I take Brewers to mean that they played for the Brewers at some point in their careers, as evidenced by the years that they were on the team.
Then it says “with at least 18 career HBP”. Is that supposed to mean 18 “Brewers-career” HBP? Because there are several other guys who have WELL over 18 HBP in their careers who have played for the Brewers. Gary Sheffield has 135 in his career. Jose Hernandez has 24. Tony Graffanino has 28. Damian Miller has 26. And so on and so on.
Not to be a dick or anything, but I think that it needs to be more clear, because those are all names I tried and was surprised not to see show up. Also, I hope listing wrong answers isn’t against the “don’t comment on specific answers” policy. If it is, I apologize.

seriously
I had the same confusion. but it cleared up shortly once I typed in a well hyped guy with his HBPs and saw how many came up.

I'm not smart enough to do that.
I just kept typing in different spellings thinking maybe Sheffield was misspelled as Shefield or something.

I got 20
Missed a very obvious one I should have gotten — the others I was OK with missing.

The trick
is to enter as many Brewers as you can think of from the past 5 years, and then as many as you can from the 82 Brewers. :)
Boy, that’s sad.

Based on the ones I missed, I don’t think I could have done any better. It’s good to have forgotten some of those names…

Tommy Harper
I was shocked he wasn’t on there. I was under the false assumption he had played for us for more than 2 years.

I’m surprise Gary Sheffield wasn’t on the list. That jack-ass deserved to be plunked at least 25 times.

I was sort of shocked Greg Vaughn didn’t make the list since he was around for a fair number of years.
