In Arizona: Josh Butler started for the Javelinas and allowed three runs on six hits in 2.2 innings, but still picked up the win over 2009 #1 pick Stephen Strasburg, who allowed eight runs (seven earned) on seven hits (three home runs) in 2.2 innings. The Javelinas won the game, 9-6. Taylor Green went 1-for-2 with a pair of walks and scored a run, Jonathan Lucroy went 1-for-4 and scored a run, and Lorenzo Cain went 1-for-5, struck out twice, was caught stealing and picked off.

Butler is now 2-0 despite posting an 11.57 ERA in his first two AFL outings.

In Venezuela:

• Adam Heether went 2-for-4, drove in two runs and committed a throwing error in Caracas' 3-1 victory over Zulia.
• Hernan Iribarren went 1-for-5, drove in a run, struck out twice and grounded into a double play in Lara's 6-5, 10-inning loss to Caribes.

In the Dominican Republic:

On Wednesday, Sam Narron made his first DWL start, allowing two earned runs on five hits and a walk in four innings and picking up the loss as Cibao fell to Licey, 4-1. Erick Almonte started the game at DH, batted cleanup and went 1-for-3 with a walk.

On Thursday, Almonte went 0-for-3 with two walks and scored a run in Cibao's 3-2 win over Este.
