They certainly made the last one interesting.
Powered by Prince Fielder's two home runs, including a go-ahead shot in the ninth, the Brewers appeared to be ready to complete a three game sweep of the Cardinals in St. Louis, and untuck one final time for 2009. Fielder's three hits in the game left him with a 2009 batting average of .2994, but also in sole possession of second place on the franchise list for most home runs in a season, with 46.
Alas, it was almost all for naught, as the Cardinals rallied to tie the game on Chris Smith in the eighth and again on Trevor Hoffman in the bottom of the ninth, costing him his 38th save and sending the game to extra innings. Then, in the tenth, Jody Gerut drove in the winning run on an infield single, scoring Alcides Escobar with the winning run. Ryan Braun's RBI double drove in another run as the Cardinals imploded defensively,
Jeff Suppan started today's game and went just two innings, allowing one run on two hits, but Chris Narveson picked things up from there, allowing just one additional run over 4.1 innings of work, giving the Brewers an opportunity to run out to a 6-1 lead. With Hoffman already having pitched, John Axford pitched a scoreless tenth to pick up his first major league save.

Cards Announcers On Gamel's First Career HR, "That’s all they need is another home run hitter".
Not too bad
only 7 wins short of my preseason expectations

My prediction as well.
I’m going to assume this trend holds true, and predict 107 wins for the ’10 Brewers.
Now I can say it.
The ’09 Brewers had a losing season because of the phantom walk in Chicago.
No other reason.
Really.
When I heard their final record
that’s the first game I though of when I had my “if only they had won one more” thoughts

I like Telly
He entertained the hell out of me this year. I hope he’s back next season

He's more awkward than most teenagers
its like he can’t quite wrap his head around what it is he’s doing while he looks around in wonder from the field level and forgets to say a word.

Again, entertaining as all get out.
That’s what sideline guys are supposed to do, in my opinion.

Trenni was more entertaining
And I didn’t think she was particularly attractive. Fangs. With her cuspids and all.

But, yeah
my opinion. Not that Telly isn’t funny to watch.

No you can't
You’d rather have some boring windbag giving you numbers that we’ve been over 5 times already?
Telly hitting the slide was 10x better than anything any other sideliner has ever given us.

plus you can still see where his nice shoes scuffed the hell out of the slide

How'd you like to be the guy that has to climb up there to clean that?
Telly got better as the season went along, but I’ll take Trenni a thousand times over.
That's all I've got for you today, unless you're interested in some Chris Capuano/Tom Haudricourt Fan Fiction.
Trenni = Meh

Well it's been a generally poor end to the season but I'm going to make the most of it...
In your face Reds!!! Who’s sitting third in the league by a clear TWO WINS!! Oh yes, its the Brew Crew. And where are you? Is that you sitting there in fourth? I think it is!! Who’s had the better season now? Who’s got the last laugh? In your face Carmen Electra, Doris Day, Charles Manson and anyone else born in Cincinnati!! I am soooo going out to get drunk tonight. Cheers Ken for making this success possible…
"I hope your name is Rick"
You're gonna go out and get drunk?
I’m already there. Slacker.

I was going to send a reply
sarcastically asking if you were sitting drinking in front of a laptop until I realised that’s what I’d been doing for the last three hours. Then again, it is 11:30pm over here…

No laptop though. I hate laptops

:sigh:
At least I got to see the last out. I’d also like to say thanks to everyone here on BCB for being a fabulous bunch of fans…even when we argue with each other.
(just got back from the Twins game. Freakin’ Twins, they do this all the time, not winning the division….)
Finally on to the offseason!
I love the speculation and anticipation leading up to the beginning of next year. It should at least be more entertaining than watching the last month of Brewers baseball.
Not a terrible way to end the season
Made the Cards go on the road for the playoffs and let us go into the off season with a small but pleasant moral victory
Cards fans have to be a bit uneasy going into the playoffs like this
Let the hot stove season begin
Moving on ready look forward not backwards The 2009 season is over it never happen as far as I am concerned so lets boldly look forward to the 2010 season
Fans at Busch
Are none too happy about getting swept by “the lowely brewers”. The attendance was surprisingly lower the I expected… I’d root for them except the few lectures I was given turned me off. I kind of want them to get destroyed to bring them back down.
The “11 times world champions” thing by the game host was fail.

Yes Cards fans are as obnoxious in their own snooty way
As Cubs fans are in their classless Chicago way ;)
I am going to pull for the Yankees been that kind of year bwahahahahahaha

I think They're more than a bit uneasy.
It’s not just this series they’ve struggled in and it’s a rare, rare team that can flip the switch on and off like they’ll have to now. Their defense is flat out awful right now.

thank god thats over
now we can move on to more noble pursuits, like preparing for the next fantasy year, and visiting art museums (done yesterday, go me). I hope sackman posts an off-season reading list, and KL an off season cooking list.
"That's not a weird stat. Rickie is a run-scorer," Yost said. "It doesn't matter. It doesn't matter," Yost told reporters. "See, you guys have no concept. He's a run-scorer. So there's nothing weird about it. That's what he does."
For what its worth
I won my fantasy league this year, even with the 12/13 pick. Yay me.
Thanks for the advice pre-draft, too.

Congrats
I took 4 of the 12 I was in, still a champion, but not my usual year. I was not as competitive in some leagues as I wouldve liked. Speaking of which, I’ll post a postmortem on the BCB fantasy league

Speaking of which, I've got a 150pt lead on RomoSucks at the moment.
But he’s got All Day, Sproles, Rodgers, Mason Crosby and his def. yet to play. This is as nervous as I ever remember being with a 150pt lead.
