The Scouts Dig Jon Lucroy.
Haudricourt's latest blog post links to this piece from Baseball America, where various scouts opine on Jon Lucroy, he of the rarely-seen "OBP lower than batting average" line (in AFL play, anyway). To sum up in seven words: most of 'em like what they see.
Editor's note: I'll have more on Lucroy tomorrow. - KL

And speaking of having a higher batting average than OBP ...
B-Ref had this post yesterday. Cosmic convergence!
Prediction:
When Lucroy does hit the big leagues, some fans will be so cranked up by the hype that the’ll think he’s a bust when he fails to hit .300 his rookie year.

No catcher will be a bust unless...
he makes me pine for the good old days when Kendall was catching.
Oh I agree...
… but I wonder if everyone will…

But Lucroy has only been hyped
for about a week. I doubt the casual fans even know who he is.

It's hard for me to tell sometimes.
I’m a casual, and I’ve known who he is for quite a while. That makes me think that most Brewer fans know about him, but sometimes I forget that you guys pass significant amounts of information to me that I probably wouldn’t get otherwise.

You read this site pretty consistently, you're not a casual
By definition.

That's true
But if he’s anointed as the catcher to beat already now, then he’ll be one of the only topics of the offseason.
Also, my dad called yesterday, and he thought the Brewers were talking about letting Lawrie start the season at catcher. So the similar-name thing may add some hype as well.
That's all I've got for you today, unless you're interested in some Chris Capuano/Tom Haudricourt Fan Fiction.
yeah...
i was wondering how much of it had to do with the Minor Leaguer with last name starting with L and 6 letters long where they’ve both played at C before. When I was even more casual than I am now, it got me confused. Briefly

TSSC
I don’t really think so. Since he’s following Kendall, I think people will be happy with him performing average offensively. But just in case, let’s start a roomer that he really handles a pitching staff well.
Cards Announcers On Gamel's First Career HR, "That’s all they need is another home run hitter".
and we'll also start a rumor that the spelling of the word rumor has changed.

I heard he really battles.
"I will agree that the attitude [at BCB] is ridiculous and they have done so much to instigate animosity and then block us from responding. Real mature!"
Tell me if I'm wrong Jordan but I think Lucroy's stats remind me of Hardy's in the minors but with a bit less power
battlekow: Bill is having an oppo-gasm
I'd personally take a Hardy-behind-the-plate

A line like that
might get you on his next dating show.

Laughing out loud at that, and my 7 year old is like “what’s so funny?” “Nothing”.
