Adam Heether News!
Okay, so it's a week old and vague. Still, it's better than nothing.
The link is from the Leones del Caracas official site, so it's in Spanish. An online translation of the relevant part says:
"Given the details of the out of action Adam Heether, [Caracas] team president [Luis Avila] said that one can not dismiss a player while injured. "You have to wait until you are 100% healthy to release the team." He further explained that the only players who have set a departure date are: pitcher Lance Broadway, outfielders Jon Jay and Jordan Brown and catcher Josh Thole. In the case of third base, Mr. Avila said Heether does not have a predetermined release date in his contract."

"Predetermined release date"
Sounds like he is incarcerated or something…

I have no idea what any of this means.

So he hasn't been kidnapped?
Awesome!

Yes, he has been kidnapped
The kidnappers have to wait he’s 100 percent healthy to release him.

I would offer my translation services, but no way do I want to stop seeing these online translations.

The translations are the best part.
Where else would I find out about Hernan Iribarren detonating an indisputable?

That's why I didn't ask for a human translation :)
I like to envision actual Spanish speakers cracking up.

Also
I don’t know if Heether has a set release date or wasn’t planning on spending the whole season in Caracas, but it would make sense for him to be let go sometime soon, as Mat Gamel is scheduled to join the team sometime in the next week or so.

On a completely unrelated note
Nice to see Greinke get the AL Cy Young. If only BCB was running the Brewers back when we first called for his acquisition at what would most likely have been a steal of a price.
Shoot, that must have been at least 2 years ago by now.

I wonder
Has a Cy Young award winner ever been traded after his award-winning season but before the award was announced. Because, really, by now the Greinke-to-Milwaukee must have been completed.

I think Doug is waiting until the value goes up to make the trade
it’s what the GM Bible recommends.

This got me thinking
Someday, I want to look at all of Moustache’s FA signings and trades during his reign in Milwaukee. I don’t know this to be true, but I suspect that his FA signings have been a lot better than his trades.

Interesting thought and a good idea
My first thought was no way, what with Looper and Suppan fresh on the mind of FA signings. I sort of get the feeling that he would show a decreasing trend of effectiveness in both FA signings and trades as time has progressed. At the same time however, I wonder how much that has to do with a swing in the objective of the trades. I feel it might be easier to trade away for prospects for the future as he was able to do early in his Brewers stint, than it is to trade your prospects or stars for players that are stars to win now.

he's worked wonders with cheap bench player FAs
Branyan, Counsell, Kapler come to mind immediately.

same for that variety of trade
But, once again, I’m wondering how much of that was related to other no-longer-present elements of the front office. The pre-2009 minor league free agents and indy league raids seem to have worked out, and there have been a few good trades for relief pitchers—the one for Shouse comes to mind.
Was Melvin the GM when Sexson got traded for Overbay? (Even though that trade had as much to do with Arizona running an Everything Must Go sale)

I think BCB was mostly Jordan
though Jeff and bk were definitely on the bandwagon. I was the founder I think, though. Sorry for the Rambling Al-esque callback of an idea.

Ha
I won’t deny the fact that I wasn’t an originator, just a bandwagon jumper oner at the time.

Actually a lot of credit goes to Josh (dixieflatline)
We talked about trying to get him instead of Sabathia at the deadline last year, a lot. And there’s this post (make sure to get to the comments).

A picture is worth a 1000 words I guess
Although I pretty sure there was some talk before that point even I found this from May of 08.
Actually, come to think of it there was probably more before then as well. Wasn’t early 08 when BCB switched to the new format and we all had to create new logins? I wonder if comments would show up from before that.

Yeah there are about 5 trade deadline threads in which I advocated getting Greinke instead of CC
but I was on board by the time the deal went down. That was mid 2008. There was definitely talk about him before the end of 2008.
