Will come down to where it should be. The big name guys will get their multi year deals, but this economy cant support high risk guys and old guys getting multi year deals. If the players/agents keep holding out like they are now, there will be a lot of bargains come February.
Here's a gem from the BA Chat:
John (Oak Park, IL): How does Escobar compare with Starlin Castro?
Tom Haudricourt: I have no idea. I’ve never seen Starlin Castro. But I’ve seen Escobar, and he can play. If Castro compares to Escobar, he must be pretty darn good.

From what I hear
Escobar’s glove is much better, but Castro’s bat is much better.
Escobar’s glove will always be there, great arm, great range, he can grow into a little bit of a power hitter and hit 15-18 HR, but will always have problems with selectivity. Gap to gap hitter.
Castro on the other hand has an advanced bat, but his glove needs work.
6 of one, half dozen of another.
Really?
15-18 HR would put him in the top tier of power for SS in all of baseball. At least according to 2009 stats.
Somehow, I find that very hard to believe.
I don’t have a category for "washed-up guys who may or may not be dominant big-league closers sometime soon."

I'd take multiple years at one-year money.
also file that one under “duh”.
Applying Simpsons and Star Wars quotes to Brewers discussions since 2009.
Hmmm...is that really true?
I’d think teams would want as many team options as possible: that way, they can ditch their Suppans when they want, but also reap the reward when a FA exceeds expectations and outplays his contract. I don’t know why, but I’m always glad to see players with options and option buyouts in place. I think it’s one of the fairest things about baseball contracts.
If (when?) Prince becomes a free agent, I bet a lot of teams will hesitate before giving him a long-term deal without team options out the ying-yang.
"I will agree that the attitude [at BCB] is ridiculous and they have done so much to instigate animosity and then block us from responding. Real mature!"
