Say, BCB looks kinda funny

This person has yet to unwrap the Christmas present of awesomeness that is the new BCB.

As you've probably figured out by now, the "visual refresh" KL mentioned in yesterday's Mug went through.  Rest assured, your Firefox isn't broken.  I dig the changes, actually, though our SBN overlords have more work to do: if you click on, say, yesterday's Mug, the beer mug logo covers actual text, instead of pushing it down.  Ned Yost would not tolerate that sort of thing, SBN-y!

I've reported the bug

Let the beatings begin!

"I will agree that the attitude [at BCB] is ridiculous and they have done so much to instigate animosity and then block us from responding. Real mature!"

I'd send this myself if I knew how to send it...

Another thing I noticed on Firefox is the little “facebook” button covers where it says how many people recommended the article on the front page. Also does it on this page over the link that says ‘’Add Comment’‘. In both cases, it’s just the end of the phrase, but still annoying. Also, in Firefox, it doesn’t give you the option to Tweet the article.

Saw it on Google Chrome, though. AWESOMEsauce.

I've been using the Contact Us link at the bottom of the page

I’ll let them know about your concerns as well.

Hey there, suphalissa

SBN Tech Guy Chris wants you to email him at support@sbnation.com with your problems. I mean, SBN-related problems. (It helps knowing what browser you use, what platform you’re on, etc.).

IKind of looks like a a newspaper now

Agree that the new format is pretty nice.

by backtocali on Nov 3, 2009 8:05 AM CST reply actions   0 recs

I'm really enjoying how fast the page loads now.

I’ll probably need some time to get used to some of the appearance-related changes, but all told I’m happy with it.

That's all I've got for you today, unless you're interested in some Chris Capuano/Tom Haudricourt Fan Fiction.

I'm probably in the minority ...

but I don’t see what was wrong with the old layout, visually-speaking. All this white space is kind of … white.

by Rubie Q on Nov 3, 2009 8:49 AM CST reply actions   0 recs

agreed

lots of white

I'm with you on that.

I liked the old layout a lot. I like the faster load-up times, but to me, it visually looks almost like an older version of SBNation rather than a newer one.

It seems like they changed it a lot since this morning again

more gray filler. I like it a lot now.

And is anyone else's z-scrolling function not working?

Or is that problem only limited to me? (It’s happened to me before, I just want to make sure it’s not the new format)

by NoahJ on Nov 3, 2009 10:27 AM CST reply actions   0 recs

Works for me.

Good

That means that mine should work again sometime. I don’t know why, but I always seem to have troubles with that function. It ends up being spotty whether it will work for me or not.

by NoahJ on Nov 3, 2009 10:40 AM CST up reply actions   0 recs

does C work?

by roguejim on Nov 3, 2009 10:44 AM CST up reply actions   0 recs

Nope.

At least, not right now. Like I said, it probably will later. Funny thing, though, is it is working on other SBN sites that I have tried. So far this is the only one I’ve had trouble with today.

by NoahJ on Nov 3, 2009 11:05 AM CST up reply actions   0 recs

Whoops

Now it’s working again!

by NoahJ on Nov 3, 2009 11:06 AM CST up reply actions   0 recs

Nah. I'm old school, internet explorer.

I keep meaning to download firefox, though, as I have heard nothing but good things.

by NoahJ on Nov 3, 2009 12:55 PM CST up reply actions   0 recs

note to hackers

I still use IE on my PCs

by PagsBrewCrew on Nov 3, 2009 1:36 PM CST up reply actions   0 recs

It takes like 3 minutes

I suggest doing it now. And then adblock. The internet will never be the same.

Are you on a PC?

You might want to give Google’s Chrome a try.

by roguejim on Nov 3, 2009 4:37 PM CST up reply actions   0 recs

Perhaps.

Is there anything especially better or useful about it?

by NoahJ on Nov 3, 2009 5:32 PM CST up reply actions   0 recs

It's ridicuously fast

That’s about it.

by roguejim on Nov 3, 2009 5:58 PM CST up reply actions   0 recs

I might download it.

Just to try it out. Maybe I can see how well the different ones work. I feel like I am putting too much effort into just picking a browser.

If you were on Internet Explorer

Then your identity and all funds that can be accessed electronically have all already been hacked and stolen anyway. So really, you don’t have anything to lose. :)

Funds? What funds?

I’m in college, remember.

by NoahJ on Nov 3, 2009 6:46 PM CST up reply actions   0 recs

Fine. Beer money, then.

Funny thing.

Ironically, I am a Brewer fan who doesn’t drink.

So, really, I am just straight broke. Even worse.

by NoahJ on Nov 3, 2009 10:59 PM CST up reply actions   0 recs

Funds, schmunds

With your identity they can put you further in the red. (Pun unintended, as if I recall correctly you’re at UW-Madison.)

Firefox is worth the download, though.

You've got a couple screws missin' up in your toolbox, if you think that you'll stop this man from hittin' moonshots.

Did they ever fix the scrolling thing?

I liked it and it loaded fast, but it drove me nuts that you couldn’t click with the rolling wheel on the mouse and slowly scroll down, you had to scroll in big increments. Other than that it was neat though. I don’t think I’ll ever leave firefox now with adblock. That thing is incredible. I haven’t seen an ad on BCB since I installed it.

There's a 3.0 version now?

Is it available on a floppy disk?

Don't be ridiculous

We have to mail you the cassette.
