Speculationville: Glen Perkins
Courtesy of MLBTR, we have some JJ Hardy speculation involving the Twins:
If the Twins can't re-sign free-agent shortstop Orlando Cabrera, it would be surprising if they don't consider Milwaukee's J.J. Hardy, who is expendable due to the emergence of Alcides Escobar. Lefty starter Glen Perkins would seem a likely bet to be included if there were an offer to the Brewers.
Glen Perkins's stats are here. He's young and lefthanded, but his ERA and WHIP have gotten worse in each of his 4 years of pitching in the majors, a pattern Brewer fans are all-too-familiar with.

Eh
Although It’d be pretty difficult and the fact that he went through surgery, I saw we try to go after Slowey. I don’t know if Hardy would be enough but it’s worth a try.

Two screws in Slowey's wrist after surgery
I’d hesitate to trade for him in the off-season.

Perkins isn't as good as Parra
I’d take him but not as the only thing for Hardy.

I would think the Brewers can get a better return than Perkins
His ERA went up between ‘08 and ’09, though his FIP did go down. Still, he doesn’t strike very many guys out and really doesn’t seem like a big upgrade over anybody in the 2009 rotation…
If Hardy really is one of the better available shortstops this offseason, and it seems like there are a number of teams in need of a shortstop, why would the Brewers settle for a guy not good enough for the Twins’ rotation?

Because with Perkins
you can order breakfast all day, and for as little as $4.95?

No, no, and once again no
His stats are dodgy, he whines more than any of the pitchers the Brewers already have, and did I already say that he’s not very good?

Did you say "dodgy"?
Well, pip-pip, guv’nor.

it's also what the fans are going to be doing...
…when balls he pitches keep leaving the park. Not sure the Brewers need a lefty Looper.

I bet they'll trade for Gomez instead.

No way
That’s just a ridiculous thought. What kind of idiot would trade his top trading chip for an outfielder when you need two starting pitchers…
