Thank you Milwaukee brewers fans. You guys were outstanding. Thank you Doug Melvin and Gord Ash for bringing me over and giving me a chance.
Seth McCliung. Confirmation has come in from Adam McCalvy: He'll be non-tendered tomorrow.

This stinks
Good luck, Son of Clung, wherever you end up.
"I will agree that the attitude [at BCB] is ridiculous and they have done so much to instigate animosity and then block us from responding. Real mature!"
no surprise...
a bummer.
hopefully he can catch on somewhere and get back on track.
i would just be happy with a twitter follow from him (hint hint):

two of my favorite players (Seth & JJ) won’t be on the team. kind of weird. but with the MLB package it is still pretty easy to keep up with favorite players on other teams.
maybe he will sign with the dodgers. that would be rad.
Seth and Broxton could have a tall off.

Seth and Coffey could have a belly off.
perhaps they did

Knew it was coming
but it still makes me very sad.

Aw, man
Like BrewHaHeather (and Seth himself), I saw the writing on the wall but am still bummed now.
My two favorite McClung memories, in chronological order:
1. The game in May or June 2008 where Seth came out on top of the McClung-Randy Johnson matchup, with two hits off Johnson to boot (even though it was “2008 Randy Johnson”)
2. The Friday night game with the Cubs in September 2008. That was the night I changed from hoping the Brewers would make the playoffs to believing that they would.
Thanks, Seth.
You've got a couple screws missin' up in your toolbox, if you think that you'll stop this man from hittin' moonshots.
That game against the Cubs
is one of my all-time favorite Brewer moments

When the Mets lost that night...
I called out the news to my S.O. downstairs, and my voice broke because the Brewers were in the WC lead, and we had tickets to the next two games, and I knew we were on the verge of seeing something I’d waited a quarter century to see.
Another act in the best week ever. Sigh.
You've got a couple screws missin' up in your toolbox, if you think that you'll stop this man from hittin' moonshots.
that game against the cubs was great
didn’t he also draw a catcher interference when he was hitting, too?
he looked like the most excited guy on the team
when they broke out the champimple.
Yep, interference got him on base
Balk got him to second, single got him to third, and Weeks hit a 3-run HR to score him.
I remember him more in the game in Chicago the week before
Even though the Brewers lost in extra innings. McClung just looked so intense, striking out the first four batters he faced, double fisting gatorade (or whatever) in the dugout, and then working out of a jam. He, Marmol, and Wood combined to strike out nine batters in a row.
This one hurts.
Please stop by and chat Seth. You made a lot of fans here in Milwaukee. :(

best memory
seth shutting down the cubs during the 2008 playoff push. god, i love him. don’t care about stats. the man is a ginger haired freak. just what the doctor ordered
"This one means 'Kill Kirk!!!!'... And also, 'hallelujah'... Depending on the context."
My sentiments exactly...
Talented and a class act all the way. Something you can’t say about our 2 new $38M acquisitions who don’t want to play here. Please get signed to a megadeal somewhere outside our division. I bet you have better stats next year than Hawkins does.
Just because they would have preferred to play elsewhere

i love the man
hahaha, i love you because of your red hair and the way you made cubs die painful and embarrassing deaths during our finest hour (sept. 2008)
fist pump that s$#t son!!!!!!

so to keep score
it’s okay for our former players to want to stay in milwaukee
but it’s not okay for other teams’ former players to want to stay in their former cities?
by PagsBrewCrew on Dec 13, 2009 7:52 AM CST up reply actions
just so you know where i stand
I think it’s awesome that players want to stay with their old team. it suggests they had chemistry with their old team and fans, which makes it likely that they’ll get along with the next clubhouse and fans (and not be a Milton Bradley).

I missed the part
where McClung was signed to a big deal, and then publicly said he wished he was playing in a different city.

This.
That's all I've got for you today, unless you're interested in some Chris Capuano/Tom Haudricourt Fan Fiction.

he made the comments shortly after finding out for sure that he wouldn't be coming back to play for the same old team that he had played for for a while
just like the two pitchers who did sign with the Brewers.
I’m sure McClung still would have said those things if he was signed by a new team immediately upon release.
by PagsBrewCrew on Dec 13, 2009 6:56 PM CST up reply actions
So, let me get this straight
When we non-tender a guy who, by all accounts loved playing for Milwaukee, and he’s out looking for a job with another team, we fans aren’t allowed to wish him well and hope he lands on his feet. But when a guy who JUST AGREED TO A LARGE CONTRACT with the Brewers tells a media outlet he wished he could be back, and reports surface that his agent pushed for an 11th hour deal with his old team, we can’t be irritated that he doesn’t have the same passion for his new team than the guy who got kicked to the curb did?
Does that sum it up?
By the way, you can twist the facts if you like, but Wolf knew he had agreed to terms with the Brewers prior to making those comments. McClung, on the other hand, does not have a 2010 contract with any team.

This whole conversation confuses me
So Wolf had two options:
Lie
Not sign with Milwaukee
What did you want him to do?
I personally think it’s pretty much irrelevant.
E: George 4 (5, throw, throw, throw, throw).
I just don't understand what the big deal is
I would appreciate the guy who’s the big SP signing at least pretending he’s all about Milwaukee. Some folks don’t care. I’m cool with that.
Why anyone gets upset about my personal emotional opinion, I don’t understand. Implying there’s a double standard, when there clearly isn’t is somewhat annoying, however.
But, no, its not going to have any bearing on Wolf’s 2010 stats. And it isn’t as if I won’t be cheering for him.

I hope
that Seth signs someplace where fans appreciate him as much as we do
Friends don't let friends be cub fans
Sorry to see him go
He certainly deserves a place among the all-time Brewers performances.
Ryan Braun: He loves it.
I'll be crying into the Mug tomorrow
This sucks so so so so so much that I can’t even stress how much it sucks. I hope he ends up in the AL Central so I can at least see him pitch more often than once. :(
Good luck Seth

Good Luck, Seth. Thanks for the memories.
Go get ’em! If you end up going to a team that has to play the Brewers, I will be there to give you a standing O.

Gonna miss you, Big Red
The game you shut down the Cubs was the best ever. And for some reason, whenever you pitched I felt it was ok to swear violently at the opposing batter.
Very kindly put,

Good Luck Seth
Just don’t go doing something stupid like play for the Minnesota Vikings.
"My plan is my plan," Yost said.
Well, as a big red-headed man, he kind of looks like a Viking.
But then again, he would be equally suited for the Reds.
Applying Simpsons and Star Wars quotes to Brewers discussions since 2009.
You make a good point
I didn’t think of it that way

Sheesh. Enough already...
Okay, okay. Fine. He’s a nice guy. He has some class. He can pitch. A little.
But it’s generally a rotten baseball decision to pay $2 million to a RP career era and bb / 9 both over 5.
And so endeth the season long BCB man crush for the big redhead.
You and tcyoung should start a club
it will be the “Fans Must Not Have Emotional Attachments To Their Teams Or Players Club”
What’s so wrong with liking a guy because he’s a good dude? I doubt anyone ever disputed he wasn’t fantastic or that the Brewers shouldn’t non-tender him…

he probably doesn’t fit now that we have Gerut, though.
