Making Your '00 Face: Catcher

With the '00's almost behind us, it's time to take a look back and work together to make a BCB All Decade team for the '00s. Each day, we'll tackle a new position, and we'll have our 25 man roster complete sometime around the 1st of the year.

The concept here is pretty simple. Each day, I'll give you a list of candidates: For position players, it's the full list of players who appeared in at least 100 games at the position during the '00s. Here are the players we've selected so far:

First Base: Prince Fielder
Second Base: Rickie Weeks
Shortstop: J.J. Hardy
Third Base: Bill Hall
Outfield: Ryan Braun

Voting for center field opened yesterday and will close at 4 pm tomorrow. Today we'll unveil the candidates at catcher:

Really? An early vote for Kendall? REALLY?

Be cool, and relax. Take a breath, take ten paces back.

NOTA

Is there a none of the above?

Rec'd, because it's true.

Where’s the “McGehee played a few inning at Catcher in college, so let’s stick him out there and see what happnes” option?

Applying Simpsons and Star Wars quotes to Brewers discussions since 2009.

I was expecting

A 2004 election joke there

C. Magruder scored, R. Weeks to second on balk

C'mon

This better be a 90% Damian Miller win. BESIDES the fact that he’s a wisconsin dude, a nice guy, and seemingly genuinely heartbroken to not be catching for the brewers, he also delivered in some clutch moments and I never remember a conversation about batting the pitchers 8th when he was our everyday catcher.

Interestingly

I think the Brewer catcher with the highest OPS from his slash line was just non-tendered.

"I will agree that the attitude [at BCB] is ridiculous and they have done so much to instigate animosity and then block us from responding. Real mature!"

Yeah

I’m assuming I’ll be voting for Rivera as the backup catcher.

That's all I've got for you today, unless you're interested in some Chris Capuano/Tom Haudricourt Fan Fiction.

Yeah

Damian Miller all the way.

Moeller's line is a thing of beauty

Some of the backups might make better choices.

I guess you're forgetting

that he hit for the cycle once.

I wonder where that compares with other teams. What was the average WAR for the MLB catchers in the ’00s per team compared with salary and salary as a percentage of team payroll.
