Perspectives on Free Agent Pitchers
I was looking to see what everyone thought about certain pitchers we had been tied to earlier on in the offseason or who still are out in the market that might be a good #3 as we can get. While we have a much better chance of getting a pitcher via trade where do you all see Eric Bedard, Jarrod Washburn, and Doug Davis signing and for how long and how much? thanks ahead of time

i would love to see bedard (preferably) or washburn in a brewers uniform this year. not much of a chance of that happening anymore, but i can see one of them signing on with the dodgers, rangers, or rockies

Now that we have Wolf
I’d be thrilled to get any of the other big names, as they would certainly be better than Suppan, and probably Bush. Having said that, it really looks like we don’t have the money for it.
I think Davis and Washburn will each get 2-3 year deals. Bedard might go for a one-year deal, hoping that if he stays healthy he’ll cash in next season.

I wonder how much Dusch will sign for

I'm more curious how much Bedard will sign for. Duchsch has been healthier for longer, correct?
at least physically healthy.

Yeah
but he’s got that whole clinical depression thing. Dontrelle hasn’t ever recovered. Also, his first full season as a starter was great. But was it a fluke?

I'd like to see them sign Lowry

Yess
I agree, Noah Lowry would be a low risk/high reward type guy but is is definitely going to pitch this year, which Mulder is not. So we can probably get a contract with lots of performance incentives and there a decent chance he’d be better than Suppan. Only problem with Lowry is he’d the the 3rd lefty in the rotation.
I am also a big proponent of Ducsherer (sp?)
Bedard I think is a bigger injury risk than Lowry or the Duke.
I am pretty intrigued by Morrow, maybe we could get him for Aguilar, Salome and someone like Periard.

I'd like to see that
But as Douggie boy stated, we’re close to broke on our budget. I don’t know if we could afford Duchs or Lowry, even on an incentive laden deal. I think our project is gonna Mulder and that’s it.
I like the proposal for Morrow, might take someone with a lil more upside though like Butler, Jack Z isn’t gonna be swindled by some of our underachievers he’s been able to see up close and personal.
Btw, I’m new here, just checkin it all out.

welcome aboard
I agree that it will take more than butler to get Morrow.
I think if we can free up some cash (move Hart or please for the love of god Soup), we may be able to wait until late feb and pick up one of those that hasn’t signed, like a Garland or Davis if he’s still out there for 4-5 with an option once the market shakes out and you have these innings eaters available in february. Patience is the word now.

Didn't see it posted anywhere else
But supposedly the Brewers were watching Kelvim Escobar throw earlier today. I would love to see that pickup, though there were quite a few other teams there too and the Brewers probably don’t have the money/desire to outbid anyone.

Yeah, I almost wrote a post on him
But he has said he only wants to pitch as a reliever to keep his arm healthy.
