Padres may non-tender Correia
I guess he'd be a bit above replacement.

He was better than most of our options last year
cheap too
"That's not a weird stat. Rickie is a run-scorer," Yost said. "It doesn't matter. It doesn't matter," Yost told reporters. "See, you guys have no concept. He's a run-scorer. So there's nothing weird about it. That's what he does."

12-11 record
I’d rather have Looper (14-7 last year), he’s better at winning games than Correia.
Get a ife broseph
That's true
I wonder if Doug has burned the bridge, or whether he’d still be open to returning.

Why would they do that?
Correia was solid last year and it’s not like he’s expensive. Outside of him, Chris Young (who’s always injured), Tim Stauffer and Clayton Richard they have no viable starters. Do they really hate being competitive or something?
They won't be competitive with or without Correia
Cards Announcers On Gamel's First Career HR, "That’s all they need is another home run hitter".
Also he'll get paid significantly more in 2010 than 2009.

meh
he’ll get plenty of interest either way. Probably not from the Brewers though.

You really think the Brewers won't be interested?
Apparently, he was one of the pitchers Melvin tried to acquire at the trade deadline.

If you are a free-agent starting pitcher
and the Brewers are not interested then you probably should be sacking your agent.
Agreed

Yeah I remember but hunting a pitcher at the trade deadline is a lot different than
looking for one in the offseason thanks to free agency. Correia could’ve plugged a big hole for us during the season but at the start of next season he wouldn’t even be good enough to make the rotation
