Jeff Suppan for Eric Byrnes????
We clear Suppan's salary Take Byrnes off AZ's payroll ($22Million over next 2 years) and end up with serviceable replacement for Corey Hart. This clears the way to trade Hart, gets rid of Suppan and allows AZ to get rid of Byrnes. Byrnes was a decent player before his hamstring injuries and sat out a good chunk of last year and appears ready for a comeback. May need other players involved to make it work. What ya think?

Bad info.
Both Soup & Byrnes are FAs after this year but Byrnes is cheaper. $14.5M vs $11M
If the Dbacks wanna spend 3.5M for Soups innings eating, I’d be glad to let them.
Given the trade they just took part in, they may be dumb enough to do it.
Speaking of bad info...
Suppan will be making $12.5M ($12.75M if you include his prorated signing-bonus) this season… not $14.5M.
2008-2009 production
Eric Byrnes-218/271/382
Corey Hart-265/315/442
That’s a 100 point drop in OPS, plus the injury risk. If you’re willing to sacrifice so much offense, the team has it for free in the minors. Brendan Katin’s MLE from 2009 stats is 214/262/413.
Rather than take back salary for a blackhole, just pay $8-10 mil of Suppan’s salary and get Cole Gillespie back.
When there is a scuffle in Ireland, there’s no need to specifically mention in the news story that alcohol was involved
You are looking at his numbers from his 2 injury years. Look at 2006-2007
2006: 267 average 313 obp 795 ops
2007 286 average 353 obp 813 ops
Corey Hart never did better than this other than his fluke year of 2007
Had contract wrong Byrnes is FA at end of year. We would save some salary.

Yeah, except those two injury years came after those 2006 and 2007 seasons
Injuries and age might have had an impact on him, no?
That's hilarious
He should have gotten a no-DFA clause

With his dog
I dont think his dog was swimming towards the balls, as much as he was away from Eric

I'd rather just stick Jody Gerut in RF
if the Brewers do indeed trade Hart.

If it is ridiculous why not offer some actual proof other than your snippy reply.

A) in the first line, you called Byrnes a "suitable replacement for Corey Hart"
This statement is silly.
Since it's not worth a post of its own...
I haven’t looked at salary or anything (which is probably prohibitive unless the Yanks are willing to pick up a portion of it), but with their acquisition of Granderson, Melky Cabrera can probably be had on the cheap, provided he’s willing to move to RF.
$1.4MM last year and he's due a raise through arbitration.
I don’t think that frees up enough cash to sign another pitcher.

My proposal remains:
Suppan, Hart, and Salome for Derek Lowe and Jordan Schafer.
Wolf out. Hawk in(s).
my mind was on "Fargo" for some reason.
but whatever you want to think…
