The Brewer Advent Calendar #3: WhatIfSports
We’re down to the last three days of the Brewer Advent Calendar, and there’s a special surprise behind each door the rest of the way. Behind door #3 we find…WhatIfSports!
So many of baseball’s greatest questions are doomed to remain forever unanswered. Could Gorman Thomas have homered off of CC Sabathia? What would have happened if Ned Yost backed up Jason Kendall? Was Tommy Harper’s 1970 season (146 OPS+) the best ever by a Brewer third baseman?
Until we invent a time machine we’ll never know for sure, but in the meantime we have WhatIfSports. WIS allows you to build teams of players from any team, league or era and compete in a league against 11 to 29 other baseball fans to create some of history’s greatest matchups. Just this offseason, 12 Brewer fans (myself included) played a 162 game season featuring only players from the Brewer franchise. I didn’t win, but I’m not holding that against them (mostly).
WhatifSports is one of the games that has helped me get through the long offseason for several years now, and they’d like to help you get through the rest of this one. WhatifSports has offered to give away ten gift certificates for their site. Each one is worth $15, enough to try any of their games for free.
Here’s how you can win one: Comment on this post. It’s that simple. I’ll leave comments on this post open until Thursday at noon (Central time). At that time, I’ll draw ten winners at random and contact you via email. Please make sure the email address in your profile is accurate, or I won’t be able to reach you. Thanks to WhatifSports for making this possible.

Wow that's pretty cool
Way to network, KL.
That being said, I’d kindly ask that you don’t take this comment as a submission/entry into the drawing. The way things are looking at work for me, I’m going to be too busy for quite some time.
But good luck to everyone else!

Heck yeah!
How does the WhatIfSports game engine work? Is it a Stratomatic-type thing? (I first played Stratomatic, too, through one of Jeff’s posts here last year, BTW)
Boy, I'd sure like to try WhatIfSports
but I just don’t have $15 to spare….
Statis Pro Baseball
In my day, we didn’t have machines playing our simulations. We had tabletops!

I have never...
I have never heard of anything like that before but it sounds like alot of fun, even if I didn’t win I would still think about giving it a try.
Thanks WhatIfSports!!!
And KL, way to shill for a sponsor!!! And they say no one sells out anymore. :)
I just sit back and root for the taser
Actually, WIS isn't a sponsor.
But I play their game and enjoy it, so I’m more than happy to mention I enjoy it and give others the opportunity to do so as well.
He’s not the worst pitcher ever, just the worst good pitcher.
Yes.
Count me in on the raffle

Me on FSN
On July 7th I had a sign for the Brewers/Rockies game with the saying “I enjoy the Funny muStached anNouncer.” FSN’s Bill Schroeder and Brian Anderson discuss:
