Brewers claim Green off waivers from Angels
From Rotoworld:
Green finished 8-8 with a 5.32 ERA last season, but that was in the PCL and at Salt Lake, one of the best environments for hitters in the minors.
Someone else will likely have to come off the 40-man to make room for him. Not sure why one would drop a player just to add this guy.

Some stat-savvy Angels fans
seemed to be pissed that he was dropped from the roster when they signed Abreu.
Check out his splits — go to the career view and MLE-ize. His ‘07 looks really good, 4.74 MLE FIP at age 22. Aided in part by an artificially low HR/F ratio, but still, ~5 FIP at age 22 is solid. I wouldn’t be surprised if he immediately becomes the #1 rotation backup behind the starting five, Capuano, and McClung.
Also, cheese.
haha
be careful using that logic when it comes to pitching depth — I have an irrational love of pitching depth :).
Also, cheese.

Making love after midnight?
I’m game.
"If loving CC is wrong I do not want to be right"
"If lovin’ Braun is wrong, I want to be a repeat offender"
and the rhythm of the night
"I will agree that the attitude [at BCB] is ridiculous and they have done so much to instigate animosity and then block us from responding. Real mature!"
Excellent
Sounds like great added depth. Between him and the guy we got via trade from the Yankees, plus McClung and Cappy, I think we have some depth in case a starter goes down.
Really this year we need Parra and Gallardo to step up, and for our offense to carry us in the rest of the games.

!!!
What if the new guy kicks LOOPER off the 40-man roster!
"I will agree that the attitude [at BCB] is ridiculous and they have done so much to instigate animosity and then block us from responding. Real mature!"
nice
very dramatic

There's never anything wrong with the dramatic chipmunk
there are probably very few circumstances that dramatic chipmunk isn’t appropriate for.

Brewers picked up some good depth with this one
Green won’t ever be a #1/#2 starter, but he adds even more depth to the back of the rotation. Better than Jeff Weaver, anyway.
Rotation depth is one big concern the Angels have this year. The Halos’ rotation projects as Lackey, Santana, Saunders, Weaver, and ?). That’s a good rotation, except for the "?“, which could be Dustin Moseley (-ick-), Shane Loux (-Rhymes with "who?”-), Nick Adenhart (needs another year of seasoning), or Green (not anymore!). Escobar won’t be back until mid-season at best, and then it’s unlikely that he’ll be stretched out into a starting role. That explains our consternation to some extent.
Does this move feel weird for you?
Like watching your two children compete against each other or something?

I was much more upset by the Yankees signing of Teixera
Which screwed the Brewers out of a 1st-round pick, and screwed the Angels out of Teixera.
Losing Green certainly doesn’t help the Angels, but they should still win their division pretty handily. A #5 starter isn’t a big concern in the playoffs, where the Halos’ main problems seem to keep coming up in recent years. Realistically, the Brewers are the ones who need the pitching help to keep them in the playoff hunt. It’s like having two kids that clearly have different personalities — you have different expectations of each of them. I’ll be happy if the Brewers just make the playoffs, but I’m a bit spoiled by the Angels’ recent success, and I need them to actually WIN some playoff games to consider it a truly successful year.
Fortunately for me, I only have one kid, who loves both Ryan Braun and Vladimir Guerrero!
Last year, I liked Pena
But he seems to have flamed out… sad to see him go because he could toss it hard… but having a “closer” in the minors is not ever a sure thing… much rather have SP depth
The designated hitter rule is like letting someone else take Wilt Chamberlain's free throws.
