It's finally here!
As of twelve minutes ago, pitchers and catchers were due in Maryvale. Consider this your Pitchers and Catchers Open Thread.

Also, I have some winners to announce from two of the three giveaways. First, congratulations to TheBrouhaha, senryu, bklanecky, cwolf20, Beardsly, Bigdog2002, Hyatt, Rahrahbullcrap, Grobbins and rustdnails, who won $15 gift certificates to WhatIfsports. If you're a winner and haven't received an email from them yet, you should soon.
Then, congratulations to Grobbins again for winning the Nashville Sounds autographed baseball!
You still have until noon tomorrow to sign up to win one of the prizes from the Wisconsin Timber Rattlers, so if you haven't yet, you should go do that.
Happy Pitchers and Catchers Day, everyone!

the negatives of small media markets
As some of you may have figured out, one of the AL teams I sort-of-follow is the Boston Red Sox. Their pitchers and catchers reported a few days ago. The Boston press has been embedded in Florida since Truck Day (and that’s a big thing, too, and they don’t even have any Racing Sausages to put in the truck) and stories and pictures have been coming out of camp on a daily basis.
In contrast, Adam McCalvy has blogged that he won’t even be in Phoenix until tomorrow afternoon, and who knows when Tom H and co. are going to get down there? (Since I don’t live in Milwaukee, I don’t know when or if the local TV outlets are going to send someone down to ST to do small nightly reports.)
So—-P&C are there but I can’t see them and I don’t know what they’re doing! All I see is grey out the window.
Hey
If you’d like to pay for it, I’ll go down there and cover camp from open to close every day. :-)
He’s not the worst pitcher ever, just the worst good pitcher.
I can't complain too much
If I could afford it, I’d be doing that myself _
But, from everything I’ve seen about spring training reports, the Brewers players are far more accessible to the fans during ST than a lot of other (dare I say more nationally popular?) teams, so I don’t think that’s a tradeoff I’d really want to make in favor of more media coverage.
ill do my best to take way more photos than you care to even look at...
when i get down there on wednesday morning…

I wish
This sounds dumb and maybe a littlt crazy but I wish we could even just watch the pitchers and cathers report, and I guess that would mean just watching them toss the ball around, but even that sounds good right now
I'm not sure there's even "tossing the ball around" today.
The first workout is Sunday. I think today players take their physicals, which I guess could be televised, but I’m not sure I’d watch it…
He’s not the worst pitcher ever, just the worst good pitcher.
lol
very true, i just want to see anything that has to do with Brewers baseball!!
Actually
Physicals don’t start until tomorrow.
He’s not the worst pitcher ever, just the worst good pitcher.
I guess that the reporters can report remotely
News: Bill Hall out for 4-6 weeks. It’s a good thing the Crew have lots and lots of 3B guys.
he just thought casey needed a better shot at making the roster
"Cubs fans boo again – 99% of these people can’t see the plate." -Ueck
I'm not sure what I do
If he somehow ends up winning the tickets too. :-)
He’s not the worst pitcher ever, just the worst good pitcher.
Weeeee
Has anyone gotten an email from them yet?
Also
I’d be interested in doing a league with just the winners from the BCB. Anyone else up for that?
yeah
I would be interested in doing a league with just the winners, or anybody from brewcrewball for that manner. THanks again KLsnow!!
Poll results
Forget this 5th place crap - 90% of BCBers, a knowledgeable group if there ever was one, are calling for the Brewers to contend this season. Game on!
"I will agree that the attitude [at BCB] is ridiculous and they have done so much to instigate animosity and then block us from responding. Real mature!"
"A knowledgeable group if there ever was one"
On average, maybe. There aren’t enough casuals like myself to offset the intelligence offered KL, Sackman, Jihad, TheJay and others.
But don’t forget impartial and fair-minded.
And we display above replacement level sarcasm.
I have an unreasonable dislike of Bill Hall.

In fairness, the punning level is well above replacement
Scored three times and detonated an indisputable in four visits to the batting box.
VORP
Value over replacement punning?

The designated hitter rule is like letting someone else take Wilt Chamberlain's free throws.
Also flagged
It’s not enough to be a pun, it also has to be funny. :)
