Odalis Perez realizes he messed up
"I thought it best and I prefer to sit in my house if the Nationals do not show more appreciation for my work," Perez said from Santo Domingo.
"Appreciate my work means to increase the value of the contract and guarantee it. I will not accept any minor league contracts with no safeguards. I instructed my agent to report my position to the Nationals," Perez said, who also said that he's not negotiating with other clubs.

So, he accepts the below market minor league deal, but now... not so much? Not sure you can really change your mind about contracts just like that, but, what do I know.

It doesn't sound like the deal was ever finalized
They might have come to an agreement but if he never signed the contract, then he’s free to hang out in Santo Domingo. It just looks bad to agree and then change your mind a couple weeks later.

Yeah, it sounds like he verbally approved it, but won’t sign anything. It does look bad, but it’s look worse if he was negotiating with other teams, I guess.

Theory:
He googled himself and found Jeff’s depth charge article and Jihad’s analysis. Welcome to BCB, Odalis! Since you prefer to sit in your house, you might as well stop lurking and start contributing.
