Don't be surprised to see Corey Hart on a short leash this season. He had a poor 2008 and only had a .300 opb, well below league average. Which is why one of the following 4th outfielder candidates, like it or not, could be the right fielder at midway point in the season. All these guys need is for Hart to continue his below-average performance :
- Tony Gwynn Jr: The Brewers wan't Gwynn to do well, so they can feel comfortable without Chris Duffy or Trot Nixon. But if he shows no improvement, his days in Milwaukee (I believe he's out of options) could be limited.
- Trot Nixon: Although the soon to be 35 year old has had a very sharp decline, just check the stats. He still hits rightys, and in the minors last year he hit 14 HR and batted over .300. He claims. he in the best shape of his life. Could be out of baseball at the end of this year, but could be the next Gabe Kapler.
- Chris Duffy: Younger than Nixon, faster than Nixon. But dosent show patience. Has quit on Pirates in past and refused to give effort. Not a good clubhouse guy.
Nixon and Duffy will need to fight for a roster spot but if they make it, Corey Hart won't get 600 PAs again
