We launch a new one at 300?
I thought it was 500. Shows what I know.
He’s not the worst pitcher ever, just the worst good pitcher.
That's what I thought, too.
In spring training, we have to let our computers warm up before overloading them, I guess.

Need to give the overflow threads a little more work
by MillerParkSouth on Feb 25, 2009 3:56 PM CST up reply actions
When is that?
All I’ve got so far are the Sept. 15th and 16th games down here. I do live in Wrigleyville, so heading up north then riding the train back down is kind of going out of the way a bit.

Actually
I don’t know if we had a hard and fast rule, though I remember some overflows kicking in at 200 comments, quite some time ago. I vaguely recall people complaining about images not loading.
Anyway, we can keep it at 500 if you like.
"I will agree that the attitude [at BCB] is ridiculous and they have done so much to instigate animosity and then block us from responding. Real mature!"
Let's go with 500, for now
But for today, let’s keep it at 300. :-)
He’s not the worst pitcher ever, just the worst good pitcher.
300 was the general rule on the old platform
don’t know that we ever established a guideline for the new platform.
but yeah, when there are lots of images, it starts loading slow after 200-250. That’s why the red reporter threads only last 200+. Some SBN sites go close to 1k and are fine.
Also, cheese.

Cool, Morlan's pitching. I'm excited to see what he's got.
Eric Gagne DL time: May 23-June 29 Brewers record in that span: 20-9
Someone screamed in front of the booth, apparently.
Provus worked right through it.
He’s not the worst pitcher ever, just the worst good pitcher.
Something about big orange trucks

That'd be the safest truck ever.
After all, cranberries make it eaaaaasy to be good.
He’s not the worst pitcher ever, just the worst good pitcher.
Just a general scream.
I wasn’t able to distinguish syllables.
He’s not the worst pitcher ever, just the worst good pitcher.
Man... this is a good sign
With this many people pumped for the Brewers season… how many more games will go two threads vs last year
The designated hitter rule is like letting someone else take Wilt Chamberlain's free throws.
New goal
Sometime in 2009, a first inning overflow thread.
He’s not the worst pitcher ever, just the worst good pitcher.
I predict the second game of the season
It’s an away game, and Opening day, too many people will be watching with their friends.
No problem
We’ll just make the overflow thread cutoff at 50.
"I will agree that the attitude [at BCB] is ridiculous and they have done so much to instigate animosity and then block us from responding. Real mature!"
Or do a combined mug/gamethread.
Eric Gagne DL time: May 23-June 29 Brewers record in that span: 20-9
A mugthread?
That sound Harry Potterish.

Lurkers will have their invisibility cloaks on
Eric Gagne DL time: May 23-June 29 Brewers record in that span: 20-9
It would have to be against the cubs if it happened.
Or after some kind of insanely major trade. Or in the playoffs. Something like that.
Eric Gagne DL time: May 23-June 29 Brewers record in that span: 20-9
actually
some sites, including one that shall not be named, often goes to an overflow before the game starts. 2 hours is a lot of time to chatter before the first pitch.
Also, cheese.

Seven and a half innings over already.
Seems like it just started…
Eric Gagne DL time: May 23-June 29 Brewers record in that span: 20-9
This is going quickly
I think pitchers pace is faster when the games aren’t for keeps? Just a guess, but maybe it’s true
The designated hitter rule is like letting someone else take Wilt Chamberlain's free throws.
I've heard the opposite in complaints from the Mariners' camp
But maybe their pitchers work slow.
He’s not the worst pitcher ever, just the worst good pitcher.
Shitballs!!
I forgot about the game.
Vegas is in a class unto-itself, it's really not a "city", more a wonderland of awesomeness.

Uek: "Vinny Rottino a good guy to have on a ballclub"
Because Craig Counsell can make Rottino give him stuff. And I bet nobody else on the team can make as good a bowl of pasta.

craig counsell takes things from rottino?
That’s the funniest, most printworthy thing I’ve heard in a long time!
Some columnist should really get on top of it.
Eric Gagne DL time: May 23-June 29 Brewers record in that span: 20-9
Well, it appears Difelice is Italian too
Although I think I recall reading that neither has even been to Italy.
He’s not the worst pitcher ever, just the worst good pitcher.
Vinny sounds more Italian than Mark
Thus; better pasta.
Eric Gagne DL time: May 23-June 29 Brewers record in that span: 20-9
just gave up a run
C’mon, nothing says fun like an extra inning spring game.
He’s not the worst pitcher ever, just the worst good pitcher.
Do they actually go to extra-innings?
I would think they would just call it.
Eric Gagne DL time: May 23-June 29 Brewers record in that span: 20-9
they might go one extra inning
depending on how much they want to see of various pitchers, but yeah, playing to the game’s conclusion is not a priority.
Also, cheese.

LOOGY fail?
Well, they usually leave him in to face all sorts of batters, but that was a lefty there.
Rivera
keep this one fair!
The designated hitter rule is like letting someone else take Wilt Chamberlain's free throws.
i guess he did
The designated hitter rule is like letting someone else take Wilt Chamberlain's free throws.
Does gameday do any ST games, or just during the regular season?
Eric Gagne DL time: May 23-June 29 Brewers record in that span: 20-9
I think Gameday does them, yes.
But I haven’t checked it out for myself.
He’s not the worst pitcher ever, just the worst good pitcher.
They must not have started yet if they do.
I haven’t been able to find any.

Awesome, thanks!
How do you locate it? I didn’t see anything on the official site, where I normally find it.

Found an old game from last year
Changed the date and teams.

I like that Gulin's picture has him in a Seattle cap
He might’ve been there for spring training more recently, but he last pitched in the Mariners organization in 1998.

I want lemonade.
May have to make some before tomorrow.

I may start a new spring training tradition
Instead of pretending it’s summer, I’ll make wisconsin-winter-appropriate drinks.
Warm Apple Cider/Juice with butterscotch schnapps.
Starting this weekend if I can find any
Escobar with a chance to win the game.

Alcides' KUG just shot through the roof.
He’s not the worst pitcher ever, just the worst good pitcher.
I dunno. He should get a pretty sever deduction for being Venezualan.
Eric Gagne DL time: May 23-June 29 Brewers record in that span: 20-9
Or severe.
I don’t want him to sever anything.
Eric Gagne DL time: May 23-June 29 Brewers record in that span: 20-9
A sever deduction would actually be a huge KUG bonus.
What’s grittier than a one-armed shortstop?
He’s not the worst pitcher ever, just the worst good pitcher.
Escobar
i can get used to that!
The designated hitter rule is like letting someone else take Wilt Chamberlain's free throws.
Alcides Escobar prevents runs.
Both as a hitter and a defender.
He’s not the worst pitcher ever, just the worst good pitcher.
Would you say he's a run preventer?
It’s what he does?

I was just thinking about Iribarren,
Here comes an indisputable!
He’s not the worst pitcher ever, just the worst good pitcher.
How hard is it?
Imagine you run a sports league where you have 4 months off every year. Do you think you could use those 4 months to give your website the capability to update more often than every 3 innings of a game?
They had the same problem last year, so they have actually had 12 months to apparently ignore this problem and hope it fixes itself. Did they hire Ned Yost as their tech guy and he thought he was being brought in for his taxidermy skills?
Actually,
There’s probably no one filling that job anymore.
He’s not the worst pitcher ever, just the worst good pitcher.
No, you can't use those four months to fix the website
Because you’ve got to make 3702 promos for your new television network!

An intentional walk in spring training?!?!
WHAT THE HELL! GIVE HIM A CHANCE

Juuuust a bit outside!!

I believe that gives
Brad the right to show some spike to break up the DP
So it ends in a tie.
Nice to have the gamethreads back up.
