Cy Young Award winner Tim Lincecum threw three perfect innings while Dave Bush, Carlos Villanueva, Mitch Stetter, and Omar Aguilar responded with solid outings of their own. All told, the Brewers and Giants held each other scoreless through five innings before the fireworks exploded in the sixth. In the top half of the inning, a Michael Garciaparra single and Chris Duffy walk set up a two-run double by JJ Hardy. In the bottom half of the inning, Joe Bateman gave up a walk and a single before settling down and recording two outs. Unfortunately, the fifth batter he faced, John Bowker, deposited a pitch beyond the right field fence to give the Giants a 3-2 lead. Bateman recovered to put up a 1-2-3 inning in the 7th, but the Brewers bats were unable to regain the lead. Sam Narron gave up two unearned runs in the 8th after Garciaparra's error led to a sacrifice fly and run-scoring triple. The Brewers fall to 2-2-1 in the Cactus League.
