Game Thread #-24: Brewers (5-5-1) at White Sox (6-7)
Fresh off an off day, the Brewers will try to put one on the board against the White Sox. It's Dave Bush v. Mark Buehrle at 3:05.
Dave Bush has allowed three runs in six innings this spring, all of them coming in the second inning of his last start. If you cherry pick that one out, he's posted a 0.00 ERA in five innings.
Buehrle is making just his second appearance of the spring. He threw two shutout innings in his last start.
Via Adam McCalvy, here's today's lineup:
Rickie Weeks 2B
Mike Cameron CF
Corey Hart RF
Prince Fielder 1B
Casey McGehee 3B
Trot Nixon LF
Brendan Katin DH
Jonathan Lucroy C
Alcides Escobar SS
David Riske is also scheduled to pitch today for the first time this spring, along with Jorge Julio, Mitch Stetter and Chase Wright.
Today's game is only available via Gameday Audio at Brewers.com. Wednesday's Game Thread is now open.

What's the status on Rivera?
If his hamstring keeps him out any longer he will have to nickname the thing ‘Ned’.
He's been taking BP
What that means for his ability to catch? No idea.

Webcast is up early today
Usually it doesn’t start until 3, but I’m listening to it now.
No announcers yet, just stadium noise, which is exactly what I usually need to get the dog to sleep.

I hope Riske does well.
I’m not really expecting him to do well in his first game of spring training coming off of the injury, but hopefully everything will be in order by the beginning of the season. I really think he’ll be the anchor of this bullpen.
Bush with a quick 1-2-3
Save some of those groundouts for the regular season!

My mistake
He gave up some hits after all. That’s what I get for trying to write and listen at the same time.

Ok
The personal drama between B.A. and Rock is already getting old.

Brian saw someone yesterday (I missed who).
Rock wanted to know where, and Brian wouldn’t tell him. An entire half inning of radio was based on that premise.

Riske in, Riske out
First pitch HR for Wilson Betemit.

Thanks
It works. I’m going to bookmark that so I can use it in the future. Just change the dates and the teams, right?
Yup.
If you can get the “live” MLB.com box score at work, you can copy/paste the game abbreviation from there, too.

Anyone else notice from the first paragraph...
“the Brewers will try to put one on the board against the White Sox” Was that a reference to the Hawk from the White Sox announce team?
Third base prospect
Spent last season in Nashville.

"Prospect" may be a reach.

2008 was his sixth year in the Brewer org.

He's not worth much unless he can play short adequately
Looks to be doubtful, though.
The artist formerly known as jihad.
I had to walk the dog.
When I left, the Brewers had Thorman and McGehee on with no one out, when I came back they were out of the inning. What’d I miss?

Check that
Nixon flied out to left.
Gamel flied out to left.
Lucroy struck out on 3 straight swings.
Nixon
Is now hitting .087 this spring.

It's something that ends with "itty," to be sure.
"The reports are that he is getting better. The definition of better is nebulous."
In the interest of avoiding swearing at spring training games,
Sure, we’ll go with that.

It's Citi
as in, better than what the Mets are going to get out of left field this year.
(Yes, I know Daniel Murphy is going to be ok. But any team that plays a bunch of second basemen in left field is going to get mockery from me for years.)
Also, cheese.

Both ruled hits, but three runs score.

Upon Further Review
Now that I’m looking through at bats, I don’t think Gameday is showing every pitch.
Every strikeout is labeled as Swinging Strike, Swinging Strike, Swinging Strike. Every hit is shown as the first pitch, and every walk is shown as 4 straight balls.
I find it hard to believe that there have been no fouls or 4-pitch strike outs, or 5-pitch walks. We can probably disregard the above picture
One would think they'd do a better job with it.
Considering it’s the only way some spring training games can be seen at all.
"The reports are that he is getting better. The definition of better is nebulous."
They don't advertise that it's there for spring games
The Gameday page lists the last game as the Phillies defeating the Rays last October. If they’re going to do a better job with something, it should be updating box scores whether through Gameday or not.

I think the Gameday is controlled by the box score
So it just inputs the easiest data per event (strikeout, walk, hit)
Rock is in charge of MLB.com
Trying to stay back, not do too much with it and go the other way. I think this encapsulates every complaint we have with MLB.com

Corky Miller
He has five hits in spring for the White Sox. It usually takes him months to reach that many.
