Game Thread #-20: Brewers (6-7-2) at Indians (6-9)
Fresh off a defeat at Camelback Ranch, the Brewers head to Goodyear today to try to get back to .500 at the expense of the Indians.
Dave Bush takes the mound today for the Brewers at 3:05. Bush has allowed three runs in ten Cactus League innings, for a 2.70 ERA. For the Indians, it's Scott Lewis. He's a 25-year-old left hander who has posted a 7.11 ERA in his first 6.1 Cactus League innings. A third round pick in 2004, Lewis made his MLB debut last fall, starting four games for Cleveland and posting a 2.63 ERA. John Sickels gives him a C+ grade. Here's the first few lines of his scouting report:
A typical finesse lefty, Lewis has an unimpressive fastball at 86-90 MPH. Despite the mediocre velocity, he succeeds and gets his share of strikeouts due to a good curveball and changeup.
Game time at at 3:05 from Goodyear, and is available via Gameday Audio at MLB.com. Sunday's Game Thread is now open.

How far will this one fly?
Looks like a classic Ned Sunday Line-up
Should be a high scoring affair.

For the love of God.
From today’s JS:
Sunday: Brewers at Indians, 3 p.m. RHP Dave Bush (1-0, 2.70) vs. LHP Scott Lewis (0-1, 7.11).
FAIL.
"The reports are that he is getting better. The definition of better is nebulous."
And yes, before you look
It was Witrado.
"The reports are that he is getting better. The definition of better is nebulous."
Go look at my comment in the "Dillard to work as a starter" fanpost
Preview: it involves the word tremeandously, and Anthony Witrado

Tom's blog had it right
More importantly, I counted and knew that it was McClung’s throw day. Even if he didn’t start, he’d be getting some pitching action in somewhere.
anyone watch the US v PR yesterday?
It was a great game for the proponents of defensive value; Dunn cost them at least 3 runs in the field, plus one on the basepaths, and DeRosa’s lack of range also cost them runs in the first.
Until the USA take it as seriously as the rest of the teams
They will struggle to win the WBC.
Johnson was quoted as saying that he only left Peavy in so “he could get his work in”.
I bet no other manager would do that no matter who the pitcher was.
peavy looked awful
his command was non-existent
Still not a very good spring for Clung.

Probably DiFelice time first.

Then Gamel makes a good play
This is why you don’t trust guys that are “scouts only”. Man in the straw hat walks in last inning and gets everything totally wrong.

Maybe The Show: 09 had it right with the defensive ratings.
Eric Gagne DL time: May 23-June 29 Brewers record in that span: 20-9
Can somebody explain
How or why the designations of West East South and Mid West often have nothing in common in where that team comes from during March Madness?
The NCAA used to be a regional tournament
So teams from the east would be grouped together and so on. They probably never had a real reason to change the names.
Obscure baseball records and more at my blog, Recondite Baseball.
Thanks for the replies
I guessed it may have started off regional but I suppose travel these days make it easier just to lump everybody in together.
I shouldn’t be too surprised to see geography not actually counting when it comes to assigning teams – look at the NFL.
