Macha considering batting Kendall leadoff
Hopefully briefly considering, then saying no.

Err
I like that he’s keeping an open mind, but Kendall’s OBP last season was .327. That’s not so good.
"I will agree that the attitude [at BCB] is ridiculous and they have done so much to instigate animosity and then block us from responding. Real mature!"
I like how “Kendall is good at getting on base”. Well, except the part that Weeks is better at it, and Kendall’s a bit below league average at it.
This reminds me of how Suppan is an Innings Eater, and a guy like Sabathia is not an innings eater. They get these stupid labels.
It’s hard to really screw up a lineup, but… this would do it.

The only thing I like about this is that it seems to be important to some people that the leadoff hitter take alot of pitches, but if that were the only criteria, you might as well bat C.C. in the leadoff spot.
We've got uniforms and everything, it's really great!
Weeks averages more pitches/plate appearance than Kendall
He also gets on base more. He also has more speed. I’ve yet to see a point in Kendall’s favor. Kendall is the 8th or 9th best hitter in the lineup.

Kendall
8th or 9th best in the lineup, 15th or 16th best on the team. Sounds about right.

Or Parra, or McClung...

He might give Counsell a run for his money though.

I agree that Rickie Weeks seems to fit best there,
But he’s obviously struggled with that spot in the lineup. I wouldn’t mind seeing Hart there. I’d just be interested to see how Weeks would produce in a different spot, say 2nd, 5th or 6th.
Or
We could replace Weeks with Escobar at 2nd base and leadoff.
IIRC, every time Hart batted lead off, his batting average went down. Could be wrong though.

And his .300 OBP would be worse than Weeks or Kendall.
"The reports are that he is getting better. The definition of better is nebulous."
Weeks career OBP is .352
Escobar was .332/.367 in AA last year, MLE/luck neutralize that to about .309. I’m almost positive Weeks is a better hitter (leadoff or otherwise) than Escobar at this point.

Kendall went 0 for 4
Hopefully that discourages Macha from batting him leadoff again.
(Yes, it’s a small sample size, but I’ll take anything to keep Kendall out of the leadoff spot.)
