Around SBN: Dana White: Carlos Condit Accepts Rematch With Nick Diaz

W: Mitch Stetter (1-0)
L: David Aardsma (0-1)
S: Lindsay Gulin (1)

Another day, another good start from a Brewers pitcher. Seth McClung cruised through the first four innings before running into trouble in the fifth, giving up three runs on two walks, two doubles, and a home run. Mitch Stetter relieved McClung and pitched 2 2/3 scoreless innings, dropping his spring ERA to 1.86. Lindsay Gulin gave up a two-run home run to Ken Griffey, Jr. but still managed to pick up a two-inning save.

Among the hitters, Casey McGehee (starting at first today) continued his torrid spring, going 2 for 5 with a home run. Brewers shortstops also starred: JJ Hardy doubled and homered before being replaced by Alcides Escobar, who singled and doubled. Rene Juan Luis Bombo Mike Rivera also homered. Rickie Weeks went 2 for 4, raising his spring average to .310, and was caught trying to steal home. The Crew also flashed the leather, turning four double plays and going the whole entire game without a single error.

McGehee

Something I didn’t realize until the Rotoworld widget had his batting line: he has yet to draw a base on balls this spring. That’s probably because he’s mashing everything thrown at him and hitting .410 without having to wait for his pitch, but it’s something to consider for when he inevitably cools down.

Ah a Hart disciple

Maybe Cory Hart can be a hitting coach after his career is over. His strategy is working for McGehee
