Time to get the scrubs out of there
This lineup needs more Scott Thorman.
Obscure baseball records and more at my blog, Recondite Baseball.
Bill Hall with a double
It’s Billy time!
and, um…Hart led off the inning with a home run.

Hart
Two theories on Hart:
1) He’s put it back together and he’s having a torrid spring.
2) Pitchers are just trying to throw strikes, and he’s benefitting from it.
Thoughts?
"The reports are that he is getting better. The definition of better is nebulous."
Pitchers
I assume they don’t worry as much about individual hitters’ scouting reports in spring training as much as executing their own pitches. I’ll be going to 3 straight games in AZ starting on Sunday, so I will try and see firsthand if Corey is laying off the low and away slider!
Also
Find out if he’s worked on his bunting.
"I will agree that the attitude [at BCB] is ridiculous and they have done so much to instigate animosity and then block us from responding. Real mature!"
Why?
Is there going to be a parade?

I just finished writing the THT Brewers season preview
It’s in the “5 questions” format. I thought about making one of my questions:
Can Corey Hart lay off the [high/low] and [inside/outside] [fastball/curveball/slider/changeup/cutter]?
Also, cheese.

The Tom Haudricourt Times, huh?
Is that the newspaper that Tom H will start after the Journal Sentinel goes down?
Doesn't matter
Hart can feast on straight fastballs all he wants, and if that helps him to get comfortable, then it’s likely to translate into good hitting against good pitching, as well. It’s not like Hart needs to prove that he can hit major league pitching.
As a matter of fact, I’m going to go ahead and blame Ned Yost for the struggles of just about every player. They all get the benefit of the doubt this year, in a clubhouse that isn’t overwrought with tension and managed by a pensive coffee addict.

It’s probably a little bit of both. If he’s put on 20 pounds of muscle in the off-season that’s probably benefiting him at least a little bit. Pitchers don’t want to throw meatballs down the middle if they’re trying to make camp, so they’re probably trying to make at least a little bit of effort. A (re)breakout season would be nice as insurance against what pitching we have left.
How far will this one fly?
If we start calling him Biller
we can call his plate appearances Biller Time.
Make sure you grab a fresh one when he’s due up!
hah, I almost wrote that
It can really go both ways there. You’ll need one to celebrate his home run or mourn his strikeout
Movie Favorites
This is painful. At least they could talk about baseball movies. And nice job by Corey admitting to video piracy.
Sac Fly RBI from Hart
off Claudio Vargas

Then Cameron with a 3 run shot
Claudio Vargas makes everyone’s spring stats better.

3-run HR from Cameron
Claudio in mid-season form.

And Cameron gives up a single to center from the pitcher
Sorry, just warming up for the regular season

Bases loaded, Manny Ramirez at the plate
Hard to tell from the radio. Corey Provus and Bill Schroeder are really the worst part of both broadcast teams, so it’s not a pleasant listening experience.

ooooh
Parra strikes out Ramirez. Manny K’ing Manny, as it were

Wow
Don’t like the 5 hits and 2 earned runs, but 5 Ks in 3 innings looks pretty good. Gameday hasn’t caught up to this inning, so he has at least one more K, too (and some more hits)

on 2 hits and a walk
That’s a crazy line
3.1 IP 6K 7H 2BB
I’d like him to keep the Ks and leave the rest in Arizona

Continuing the trend.

On the plus side
My fantasy team likes what it’s seeing in Ethier today

I honestly wouldn't see the point
The Brewers shouldn’t have any reason to care if Gwynn and Lamb get picked up by other teams.
by Marty McSuperFly on Mar 25, 2009 4:54 PM CDT up reply actions
It would be interesting
McGehee has pretty even splits. I think Hall is about the same as a Hall/Lamb platoon overall with more upside, but there wouldn’t be an alternative if Hall struggles against righties. It’d be a major commitment to Hall. The only alternative later would be Gamel. I was going to write a post about McGehee, but time is lacking.

weeks with a hit and a steal
I’m pretty optimistic about my guys this year (weeks and hall)

Back, Track, Wall
Prince with a two run BLAST!
Swing and a drive, left center and deep, get up.....get outta here gone, for Ryan Braun - What a shot by Braun, and the Brewers have the lead.... - Bob Uecker bottom of the 8th, Game 162 - 2008
I just realized I'm starting to memorize the order of the commercials.
Have I been listening to too much baseball?
"The reports are that he is getting better. The definition of better is nebulous."
I get that way during the season almost immediately.
Who doesn’t have a lot going for them at Hank, Hardware Hank? Or you run out of taste when you run out of Klemens, I mean, its just not summer without them.
How far will this one fly?
You know who else makes a lot of coin?

I should've worded that better.
I memorize commercials on the first day. But I’m starting to memorize the order. I know when commercials are coming and what music will lead back into the game after them.
"The reports are that he is getting better. The definition of better is nebulous."
I'm there with you.
When they pause for a ten second station identification or a word from the sponsors, I can rattle it off before it finishes 9 times out of 10. Complete with the jazzy intro music you speak of. It’s quite sad really. Baseball Nerds 2^2 Life.
How far will this one fly?
Everyone is scoring in Arizona today.
The Angels lead the Rockies 17-9 in the 7th. The Angels scored 7 in the 2nd and 4th.
