Villanueva likely to be closer on opening day
Assuming that Hoffman opens the season the DL it looks like Macha has indicated the Villanueva is the preferred option to close.

This is the next logical step.
Some teams protect starting pitchers from teams they’ll face earlier in the offseason. We’ve protected Battlekow from the entire world for the entire offseason.
