Brewers 8, Rockies 6
W: Chase Wright (1-0)
L: Ryan Mattheus (0-1)
HR: Casey McGehee (1), Chris Duffy (1), Mike Rivera (2), Trot Nixon (1), Dan Ortmeier (1), Seth Smith (1)
In a back and forth slugfest that would have fit right in at Coors Field, the Brewers scored eight runs, all via the long ball. The game was tied at six in the bottom of the eighth when Trot Nixon drove in the winning runs with a two-run shot, his first hit of the spring. The loss is the Rockies' seventh straight.
Yovani Gallardo pitched three scoreless innings, giving up one hit and striking out five.

YoGa did well today
In totally unrelated news, I see that Randy Johnson K-ed up 7 over 3 innings against the D-Backs. I realize that it’s ST. I realize that he wasn’t going against all the best the D-Backs have to offer. The Giants have a scary rotation and, if Zito makes the turnaround that we here at BCB wish for Suppan, they will have the rotation of Lincecum, Cain, Johnson and Zito…with some other dude.
As I was saying…YoGA did well today :)
"....si si Peeeeedro"
the other dude
Jonathan Sanchez isn’t that bad, either. IIRC Kevin Correia was their 5th man for most of last year and Johnson is a definite improvement on that.
Duffy
Right now Duffy is leading the way as that 4th OF in my opinion. He’s a Lefty bat that can run. He would be my choice along with Brad Nelson to make this club.
It's funny, in a way
Because a week or so ago most of us were assuming Nixon was on the roster, and everyone else was fighting for the last spot.
Now Duffy is in, and if the final roster were done today, Nixon would be gone.
"The reports are that he is getting better. The definition of better is nebulous."
