I wonder if David Welch will pitch tonight
Maybe Team Australia will make him face his teammates tomorrow.

Balfour isn't playing for them, unfortunately
That would have been cool, though.

Since we're focusing on the world
Anyone else notice the Rotoworld widget is suddenly reporting on the world of basketball? What’s up with that?

Giving it a day or two to see if it fixes itself.

Didn't you hear that we signed Leandro Barbosa?

Random MLB 09 the Show observations
- Alcides Escobar has a lower Fielding Ability rating than Gamel or Braun. What?
- “Gagne” is an option under “Facial Hair Style”

Gagne was an option in the 07 version

Strange
I was initially really excited that our prospects were finally in the system (Thank you September call-ups!), but most of them have only “B” potential and like you said, completely inaccurate fielding ratings. Disappointing.

If I remember right
Sickels over at Minor League Ball didn’t have anyone in our system as “A” prospects, Gamel and Escobar were, I think, both B+.
That being said, a lot of my “A” prospects in ‘08: The Show never really pan out. I have about five left fielders and three right fielders that have A power and D contact and are all A’s overall. Every other position sucks, though.
I did make myself as a second basemen, though, then I do a fantasy draft for the Franchise mode and sim through the seasons, just making personnel decisions. Right now both Prince and I are closing in on A-Rods HR record of 850.

Hehe
In ‘09, Swindle’s curve can only go down to 68— it’s actually 55. I wish there was an eephus.
Prospect ratings in video games should be totally reconstructed. They should set a “potential” rating, and then if they player completes benchmarks at each level, they get bumped up a notch until AAA, and then the majors when they hit their maximum attributes. That would make things much easier. I don’t even really get the ‘potential’ thing, I mean Counsell is a “B” potential.

The only way the potential even pans out
is if, under the scouts take, it says “As close to a sure thing as you can get”. I like having the potential rating, but they do need to make it better.

I hope so.
Watching the mighty Australian tilt at the moment.
I get to be a cubs style troll for the gamethread tomorrow.

8-8!
I have never seen a team score 4 runs on a bunch of slicing line drives before.
In fairness though, I don’t watch a lot of angels baseball.

Today's game is on Brewers.com via Gameday Audio

I inadvertently ventured to the other BCB
There’s a front page post on “doing the math” about the Cubs bullpen. My doing the math is different from their’s, apparently— I would’ve projected RAR and WAR and looked at K:BB rates. Apparently their “doing the math” is adding up the amount of players that can fit into the bullpen. I’m going to have to look into Jeff’s site-blocker machine.

David Welch
Welch pitched two scoreless innings for the Aussies. In fact, the only Aussie pitcher not to allow any runs. Gave up two hits. Struck out one swinging on a nice looking curve. Also, shattered Matt Tuiasosopo’s bat on a weak grounder to the SS.
