Good to see that his shoulder is healthy and allowing him to reach his previous level of high performance
jeff: but i shudder to think of the bullpen analogy to sending the runner

What is this intentional walk crud?
As any of us know, Derrick Turnbow can walk guys on his own.

maybe the official scorer
didn’t understand. “intentional” may just mean, “the catcher had to stand up and take a step sideways to catch the ball.”
Also, cheese.

this actually doesn't look like his fault
for a change.

one legit walk
one stolen base
one legit wildpitch
I don’t know how many of the pitches were intentional balls, but I’d pin this one on the manager for choosing to issue all the IBBs rather than just have the guy throw the ball to the catcher. Hell…making me throw the ball to a guy standing up off to the side a few times and then asking me to bear down and toss one low and hard – that’d throw you off rhythm enough to maybe f*ck up on the next AB. Much less asking you to do it a few times in a row.

Walking in a run after all that doesn't count?

as i said, it throws you off a bit to have to "play catch" with the catcher at 5 feet high...
…and then have to bear down and throw hard at 2.5 feet off the ground closer to the batter.
I’m not saying he did nothing wrong. Just saying his performace wasn’t the shittiest I’ve seen out of pitchers (especially him:P )

That must be so weird
“OK, for a brief moment in your career, you are an unstoppable All-Star closer. OK, moment’s done.”
I mean, it made him rich (say, compared to us), but I can’t imagine how frustrating that must be. I wonder if he looks at his arm and thinks “damn you, throw strikes!”

I do feel bad for him.
I think it is easy sometimes to just say “He is rich now, so it can’t be that bad”. The guy may really love playing baseball, and everything just fell apart.
I went through a similar thing about a year ago when I was having problems with the mechanics of getting the beer bottle to my mouth. I had enjoyed many beers in my life, but it was the next one that I was really looking forward to. Luckily with good coaching I have my control back.

I’m sure it kills him. I can’t imagine waking up one day and just not being able to do what you love to do and what you spent your whole life training to do.

I just feel bad for him. Going with what roguejim was saying, it’s gotta be really tough to go from one end of the spectrum to the other in such a short period of time.

Ned said
that if you take away all of the walks then Turny had a good outing.
