Kirbir's Picture of the Week

I'm sure that there are a ton of great pictures from this past week in baseball. However, I believe that the most important picture that needs to be displayed right now is this one that I found over at Halos Heaven.

Please join me in helping to stop those you know and even those you don't from getting behind the wheel drunk or "buzzed."
And, please, take care of yourself. Remember that when you drive, you are driving not only for those in your car, but for those you care about... and the others on the road, and the people who care about them as well. It's fun to drink while at a baseball game or watching one at home, but please know when to stop and when not to drive.

Safe Ride

If you do drink, and it gets out of hand. Please call safe ride, it’s there for a reason!

R.I.P Nick Adenhart….

Miller Park

If you don’t have a DD and drink a too much.. here are your Miller Park options.

Busing Options
Route 90 goes up Wisconsin Ave and enters and exits Miller Park by Helfaer Field on the home plate side of Miller Park. Two additional bus lines exit outside of Miller Park, Route 18 (National Ave) and Route 10 (Humbolt – Wisconsin). Details

Taxi and Bar Options
Taxis queue up and load/exit on the road next to Helfaer Field home plate side. There are also Bar Shuttles that leave from the temporary parking area behind home plate by the giant concrete baseballs, by Hank Aarons statue. They shuttle ALL over town, so if you can walk from a bar to home, simply take their shuttle to and from the game. You can also get a Taxi at the bar and save on the money by cutting down the mileages.

This entire sad story reminds me of what pisses me off the most

This story really touched home for me and it reminds me of how lax the drunk driving laws are in WI. I lost an Aunt to a drunk driver 12 years ago. That man who took her needlessly had received 4 previous DUIs, and had not done a day of jail time until he killed her. To my understanding, WI is the only state where the first offense is a misdemeanor. I can get that. Sure, you make one mistake, and you learn from it. BUT, any further offense should mean you made the same mistake and don’t care. I feel that the book should be thrown at them. I’m glad that the man who killed Nick Adenhart is being charged with triple murder, and I’m glad that he won’t see the outside of a prison cell for 55 years if convicted. It’s so senseless what he did, and all he had to do is just get a ride home from the bar.

I just sit back and root for the taser

Agreed.

Second and third offenses should be penalized much harder, as well as the blood alcohol content taken into account. I absolutely love drinking beer, and I haven’t drove after more than one in 9 years. It is not difficult to plan a different way home. Bight the bullet, have one or two less drinks and eat the cab fair, or stay home.
