Intervention Time for Soup
"Well, I've had better days," Suppan told Macha.
It's one of those rare "Citizen King" references by ol' Soup.

Does that mean he’s been the star of many plays? Or that the bottom has dropped out?

I don’t think so, I haven’t seen him throw a decent 12-6 curve yet or anything.
So, this just in: The bottom hasn’t dropped out.

Adam McCalvy covered it as well
My favorite quote from McCalvy’s article:
http://mlb.mlb.com/news/article.jsp?ymd=20090413&content_id=4255410&vkey=news_mil&fext=.jsp&c_id=mil
“Suppan was 5-0 with a 3.00 ERA last August, but in eight starts since, including his Game 4 loss in the National League Division Series, he’s winless with a 10.13 ERA and has surrendered 12 home runs. In his two starts this season, Suppan is 0-2 with a 12.91 ERA and has started 11 of the 20 hitters he’s faced with a ball.”
Give Witrado some credit here. His article is a quality post with good quotes from Macha and some amusing commentary: “That could be code for Suppan is staying in the rotation until the Brewers know they can’t keep him there without there being a player revolt or the fans picketing Miller Park.”

I’m not discrediting Witrado. I enjoyed this article, because it seems like everyone finally is starting to have enough with Soup. If the manager is starting to get “concerned,” then I’m thinking a possible DL stint for an undisclosed injury of some kind may suffice.
15 day DL for mental capacity to do one’s job issues.

I didn’t mean to imply you were ripping on Witrado. I meant, in general, BCB has a low opinion of him (for verifiable reasons), but this is one cite when people say he “always” produces trash.

A lot of that “hate” comes from nonshalaunt-ism, and certain articles where he beats the obvious out of the bush, or just sarcasms it to death. Mostly, I’d say it’s certain mailbag items that are answered weak, or shouldn’t be brought up.
All in all though, he’s in his spot for a reason, just as I am trying to work towards a spot like that some day myself. People won’t always like what you say, and that’s the nature of writing your opinions. Frankly, I gained respect for him in the offseason.

So all we have to do
is organize a picket line outside Miller Park, and Suppan will be out of the rotation?
