Fantasy Baseball Etiquette
I saw a violation in a game thread earlier this week, so in line with KL's guidelines, it's probably time we review the rules of your Fantasy Team.
1. Don't propose or accept trades the caliber of Isiah Thomas management. It's a waste of everyone's time, If you’re taking the time to offer a trade, please make it reasonable. I don’t know too many people who are going to take three or four of your bench players for their first-round pick.
2. Never cheer for your Fantasy Team over your home team. It's not worth the headache and fan-taking you will receive from your fellow fans. It's as bad as rooting for your team to lose to improve draft position.
3. Don't make smack talk personal, just keep it to the other team's performance. Moms, sisters, family, wives, etc. are off limits. However if a guy drafts Carl Pavano, that's open season.
4. If you join a league, do the other players a courtesy and play it out. Nothing frustrates me more than those guys that join a league and have the same lineup everyday for the season. Move your guys to the DL and play it out.
5. No one outside of your league cares about your team. Just a fact, so keep it in the league and have your commissioner set up a chat space.

Wait wait wait...
You’re telling me that most people don’t care about something that is completely personal to me? Get right out of town.
Personal
It shouldn’t be personal to anyone which is why I think the whole business of mentioning a fantasy player in a game thread is a big deal. Mentioning so and so’s a player on your fantasy team who just got an RBI or a run or a HR after the fact as an “Oh well” sort of moment is not tantamount to rooting for your real team to lose.

It's bad to cheer for your team to lose to improve draft position?
Screw that. For a team that has been losing for over a decade (re: Brewers formerly), than I might want the team to go for wins, but for a team like the Bucks who have been bad the past couple seasons and obviously need good, young talent and who have already been statistically out of the playoffs for some time, I would rather they get a better draft pick.
Otherwise, barring some kind of crazy trade or luck, the Bucks will be on the short end of talent because they’ll only have mid first-rounders and free agent leftovers because nobody wants to sign with the Bucks.

after how many starts for your team?

So what you are saying...
Is that offering a trade of Jason Kendall for Albert Pujols is bad etiquette???
I need to go cancel a trade request….

it's almost as rude as not letting anyone know you have Kendall on your team
you know, so we can rip the hell out of you.

Offering ridiculous trades is part of the fun
especially when some numbskull screws up and hits the accept button instead of the reject button.
Its only annoying when the moron offering the trade doesn’t realize that its a godawful offer.
