Huh, they really screwed up the Stars boxscore at milb.com...
As battlekow can attest, Gameday originally said that Josh Wahpepah was pitching the last two innings and McClendon pinch-hit for him in the 9th. Now those innings are given to McClendon (which seems accurate – I had a bit of a WTF moment when the radio announcer said that McClendon had just collected his second win of the season after the walkoff), but they didn’t correct the PH appearance, which now reads:
Offensive Substitution: Pinch hitter Mike McClendon replaces Mike McClendon.
So really, there was no pinch-hitting apperance, certainly not PH-P as the boxscore now shows.
yeah, replacements are a PITA
the MILB format is ok, there are just occasional mistakes like this. The scorekeeping software that college teams use, though, that can be a disaster. There’s not really a clear way to enter double-switches, so often you’ll see the most ridiculous sequences of replacements. I wish I had saved the link for the worst one from last year. I think an inning opened with something like 20 replacements, some of which were just undoing the previous one.
Also, cheese.

Thank you for posting something for me to read this early.
How about RJ Swindle!! Can we abbreviate his name as Rob?
7Ks in 3 innings with NO Walks, he needs to be in Milwaukee!
Plus, according to Gameday, he was striking out righties and lefties.
Swindle is on the 40-man
So it would be easy enough to get him up there given some of the other bullpen issues.
With Stetter as the only lefty in the pen, there is going to be a day when Macha is going to need that second lefty.
J.A. Happ pronounces his name just "Jay"
So I guess we could call Swindle “Ar.” New nickname: the Pirate!
jeff: but i shudder to think of the bullpen analogy to sending the runner
BTW, does Huntsville always have such crappy attendance early in the season?
April 9: 2,562
April 10: 1,673
April 11: 529
April 12: 503
April 13: 526
April 14: 490
April 15: 547
Some of it's probably the weather
Temperatures have mostly been in the 40s at night here in Nashville, and since Huntsville’s only 90 miles away, I assume it’s the case there too. (Nashville has had crappy attendance, too.) I know you Wisconsinites will probably just tell us to suck it up, but then we don’t have a roof over our ballpark.
Sounds like their attendance is usually relatively sparse:
B-Ref has their 2008 attendance at 2286/game.
"The reports are that he is getting better. The definition of better is nebulous."
The Southern League averages 3545 per game
Only the West Tenn Diamond Jaxx had lower attendance than the Stars last year.
The Southern League lagged behind the other two AA leagues. The Eastern League averaged 4440 per game and the Texas League averaged 5589.
Obscure baseball records and more at my blog, Recondite Baseball.
Weird
You’d think Huntsville sportsfans would be at a loss for events to attend. What else is there? The Crimson Tide? Anything Else?
Duh, Alabama-Huntsville hockey
Go Chargers!
