Rickie Weeks' Run Scoring
I think that it is pretty universally accepted that when Weeks gets on base, he scores. If only his OBP was higher, he'd be unstoppable. My question is this: What percent of times on base does Weeks score, and how does that compare to the team/league averages? The trick to figuring this out is that not all runs scored are a result of getting on base (HRs), and walks and IBBs must also be taken into account. I suppose an even more useful stat would be the percentage of runs scored when on base with less than 2 outs or with no outs. Any Ideas?

I've played with this number a little bit in my past life
I didn’t compile all the 2008 stats, but here are the NL Central leaders in runs scored per time on base, removing home runs from the equation:
Corey Patterson 56.7%
Ryan Ludwick 55.9%
Nate McLouth 55.3%
Rickie Weeks 54.6%
Alfonso Soriano 53.9%
With that said, I don’t think this stat or others like it are particularly relevant, because they’re hugely dependent on the hitters behind these guys. So, if these guys had all hit #7, they probably wouldn’t have been driven in by the Adam Dunns, Albert Pujolses and Ryan Brauns of the world.
"The reports are that he is getting better. The definition of better is nebulous."
STATS tracks this, at least the top 20
AL board and NL board for 2009. I don’t know if they have past years and it includes HR’s, but you can take those out relatively easily.

You have no concept.
"I will agree that the attitude [at BCB] is ridiculous and they have done so much to instigate animosity and then block us from responding. Real mature!"
Thanks
for all the help. I realize the stat isnt particularly useful, but that’s exactly why it’s interesting. Also, I am in no way related to Ned Yost, thank goodness
for all those unsure, check the new sig

"That's not a weird stat. Rickie is a run-scorer," Yost said.
That may be true, but doesn't the math make him an unlikely run-scorer?
"It doesn't matter. It doesn't matter," Yost told reporters. "See, you guys have no concept. He's a run-scorer. So there's nothing weird about it. That's what he does."

I don’t think you’re allowed to have a signature that big under the new posting rules.

Wow
There’s a humorous rejoinder to be made there, but there’s no way I’m going to make it. Uh-uh, no way.
