Brewers sign Jason Tyner
After telling Trot Nixon there's not room for him in AAA, and with an outfield that already includes Lorenzo Cain, Brendan Katin, Cole Gillespie and perhaps Tony Gwynn, among others, the Brewers have signed a zero-upside 31 year old outfielder to soak up at bats in Nashville.

Did they really tell trot there was no room for him at AAA?
I was under the impression that he had the choice to go down and he declined.
Nixon indicated to Macha that he still wants to play and was not mulling retirement. That’s why Macha encouraged Brewers general manager Doug Melvin to make the move early, instead of waiting for the final week of Spring Training.
…
The Brewers didn’t have a home for Nixon at Triple-A Nashville, where prospects Cole Gillespie and Brendan Katin are expected to get regular playing time. The rest of Nashville’s outfield corps will depend on further cuts by the big league club.
Hard to tell from that whether Nixon was open to playing at AAA or not.
jeff: but i shudder to think of the bullpen analogy to sending the runner
Maybe I'm reading too much between the lines but...
perhaps they’re thinking that Nixon might still catch on with another team and they felt it unfair to plop him on the Nashville bench, while Tyner has been perception-demoted to organizational soldier status since his last Twins season and warrants no such pleasantries?
That's just KL's way of saying he's short.
Also, cheese.

Currently 26th on the list of most PA with <= 1 HR.

Special Achievement re: the above list goes to Hoyt Wilhelm
Sure, he only had 493 PAs over his career with the lone home run, but that home run occurred during his first career at-bat. 21 years later, he still had just the one.

Just because you brought up P-I again and I was playing with it
First of all, see if you can find an issue with this data set— hint it involves the #1 player. Secondly, the Brewers have two of the twenty heaviest-listed players in MLB history on their roster right now, and I’m guessing Sabathia is heavier than his listed 250 on this list.

the problem with non-updating data
…and large Brewers.
Seth McClung is listed at 235 there, and he admits to at least 250…that’s what he’s listed at (more or less) on the official Brewers site, at least.
(Also, I don’t think Boof Bonser weighs 260 anymore, either, although after a year off, 2010 may be much different.)
You've never heard of One Ton Goldsby?
Dominated the league back in the 80s—the 1880s. That’s when they played the game the right way. One time he surrended a walkoff bunt single to Speedy Julius Keener; next day Speedy went missing and they never saw him again. I don’t want to accuse anyone of nothin’, but One Ton Goldsby ended up 100 pounds heavier, and nobody never saw Speedy Keener again…
(apologies if that didn’t come out as funny as it did in my head)
