Wilco and Bill Schroeder: Indie Pals
Little-known fact: For a couple of years right after he got out of the league, Bill Schroeder was a roadie for Uncle Tupelo. You can still see a lot of the alt-country/indie vibe in Bill. Of the two men on the right -- Jeff Tweedy and the Rock -- you really struggle to tell who's the indie rocker and who's the big-league backstop-turned-announcer. I'd be open for Tweedy subbing in as FSN Wisconsin color man on occasion, although the fact that Brian Anderson doesn't seem to want to be photographed with him could be a problem. B.A. thinks jean jackets in the booth are mad unprofessional, and did not approve of Tweedy's banter about advice he received from his father: "Marry a woman that's a little bit fat. That way, everywhere you grab, you'll get something good."

gotta say
I’m partial to the Mermaid Avenue stuff. Woody Guthrie was a genius.
Remember the Mountain Bed, One by One, and especially Hesitating Beauty are my favs.
And Walt Whitman’s Niece is chock-full of excellent double-entendre. Hoodoo Voodoo is downright zany.
Bring on Mermaid Ave Vol III !!!!

I would love it if someday a reliever ...
walked out real slow, to a drunken sing-along of California Stars. Could Hoffman put Hell’s Bells on hold and try this once?
I pitch for the Hebrewers.

Padres affiliation is enough for me.
Did you see Tweedy wore the hat at his Pabst Theater show? Pretty sick.
I pitch for the Hebrewers.

That interview was REALLY hard to listen to

The awkwardness level was off the charts.
Guys like Meatloaf tend to do better in the booth than socially awkward indie stars.
I pitch for the Hebrewers.

The interview was so bad...
It threw off Yovani Gallardo’s concentration and he allowed five runs to score after two outs.

I was disappointed
As a big Wilco fan who had to watch the game on MLB.TV, I could see Tweedy in the booth but was getting the WTMJ audio. I’m sure I didn’t miss much, but would have liked to see it anyways.
He seems to be a big fan of the NL Central – grew up outside St. Louis, attends Cubs games every once in a while….and now best friends with Rock.

The bad part is that I think Tweedy doesn't really give a shit about baseball.
You can’t wear a Brewers hat on stage if you really care about the Cards or Cubs, right?
I pitch for the Hebrewers.

Yeah
I’m sure he doesn’t care at all, which made it all the more confusing that he not only agreed to go to the game, but an inning long interview with the announcers.
Now if the Hold Steady showed up in the Twins booth…that would be a different story.

...
this is the first i have heard of this! i have been getting the opposite of the brewers feeds almost every game on the MLB package.
sorry i missed it!

Don't be sorry
It was filled with awkward questions by BA, like, ‘how about that roof?’ and one word answers by Tweedy.

since tweedy covers "Fake Plastic Trees"
he should pull a Brandi Carlile and cover Radiohead’s “Creep”.
Would be interesting to see if he can get the anger out of a semi-acoustic performance
I can see him relating to the lyrics;)

my favorite part
I think it was rock who asked tweedy for free stuff
The Senator, while insisting he was not drunk, could not explain his nudity.

American Aquarium Drinker
That’s why I watch Brewer games on mute; Tweedy can add more to the broadcast via Yankee Hotel Foxtrot or even Being There (a solid double album, if such a thing is possible, minus the White Album).

If Video killed the Radio Star what Killed the Video Star?
He was infamous for pulling guns on all of his artists. Ironic that the coat-check girl is the one he finally snapped on. What a nut. He could record a nice wall of sound, though.

Could blogging kill the video star?
I’d say YouTube, but that’s still “video”

Nope
MTV’s Reality program lineup killed the video star.
"That's not a weird stat. Rickie is a run-scorer," Yost said. "It doesn't matter. It doesn't matter," Yost told reporters. "See, you guys have no concept. He's a run-scorer. So there's nothing weird about it. That's what he does."
