Optimistic
I can honestly say I am still very excited for this year. Yes, we haven't had a good year in the win-loss column, but just look at how many close games we have had. We have lost 4 games buy one run. If we would have gotten the big hit from some one like our three-four-five hitters. Ryan Braun, Prince Fielder, and J.J. Hardy are hitting a combined .170 avg. As Charles Barkely would say. "Thats Terrible." Oh and not to mention the 39 k's that those hitters have.
Losing two aces the Brewers staff was never going to be more than ok keeps the runs down enough were we can out score them. Suppan, well lets just hope for .500 in the games he pitches. Gallardo as he showed on saturday vs. the Mets even though it was a loss an ace-worthy performance.
The bright spot i feel that no one is talking about, is the emergence of Rickie Weeks. He looks to be finally showing the hitting talent that every one thought he had. One of the better averages and on base percentages on the team. His defense still at time looks little suspect with less than averages throws and that killer error against the mets.
Overall i'm still very excited for this year. Its a long one, and anything can happen. The warmer weather coming up, will hopefully unthaw the brewers hitters to take stress of the pitching staff so they don't have to be (or wait try to be, with trying to paint the corners, but instead walk four consecutive with the bases loaded.)

Loss Margin
Here, in chronological order are the loss margins of each game we’ve lost:
4,6,1,3,1,5,1,1
Half of our losses thus far have been by 1 run. However, the rest of the losses have been by 3,4,5, and 6 runs. This gives us plenty reason for optimism. Despite the mediocre pitching rotation/bullpen, and despite the meat of the lineup not producing, the Brewers could have easily be sitting anywhere between 4-8 and 8-4. Also, we’re leaving a lot of runners on base. Well, in order to get a leave a lot of runners on base, they first have to reach base. And really, I think we can find bigger problems than having a lot of runners on base.
I, too, am optimistic. If the pitching can hold steady and perform to our expectations, we should be in the running deep into the season.

Win margin
Devil’s advocate: 2-1-6-2
Optimist:
I’m looking for Hoffman to bring some swagger to the bullpen, take further pressure off Ville and reduce the number of ‘bad reliever’ innings. Braun, Fielder and Hardy can’t suck for too much longer.
A series against Houston and Pittsburgh should make things look rosier by the end of the season.

Right
After this series with the Phillies, things start to get a lot easier.
Here’s how I’m thinking the next few series will go.
Phi (1-2)
Hou (2-1)
Pit (3-0)
Ari (2-2)
Pit (2-1)
Cin(1-1)
ChC(1-2)
Fla(2-1) – They should be cooled off by May 12
Stl (2-1)
Hou (2-1)
Min (1-2)
Cin (2-1)
If this happens, we’ll be 24-23 by the end of May.

It might be tough to sweep the red-hot Pirates
So it could still even out.

I had to put a sweep in there somewhere
The second Pirate series might be more likely.

This One's Optimistic/This One Went to Market
If you caught the Radiohead reference (from Kid A) then you’ll recall how big fish eat the little ones…hopefully we can become the big fish until we meet again with those unlovable losers/winners from Chicago’s north side.

It's hard to be optimistic when they find every conceivable way to screw up...
….including walking Jamie Moyer.
We already lost a series 1-2 to the Reds who aren’t that good. I’m waiting for a reason to be optimistic but I haven’t seen it yet.
