Question from a Brewers fan in STL
Hi, I was having an argument with some of my buddies and told them that the Brewers have a much better baseball atmosphere than the Cardinals. I went to Miller Park back in '05 and had a great time. Anyway, one of the things I hate about Busch Stadium is "Kiss Cam." I told my friends that Miller Park didn't have such a thing. But, they said that I have not been there for 5 years, now. Anyway, does Miller Park have "Kiss Cam?"

There used to be a "Kiss Cam" but not any more.
I last remember seeing it circa 2006.
There’s a better baseball culture around the city of St. Louis. Even being a huge Brewers homer, there’s no way I would ever compare what the Brewers have going on to what the Cards have in St. Louis. I mean, for Christ’s sake, we have sausages running around and a dude jumping down a slide every time a homer gets hit.
Actually, one of my only complaints about Miller Park and attending games there is that there isn’t enough focus on what’s going on on-field.

Don’t know if you understood this, clearly, but the sausage race and Bernie’s slide are apart of a Brewers game experience for Christ’s sake. Personally, I still say nothing tops the old chalet from County Stadium. I mean look at it:

How awesome is that? Over the top for baseball? Yep, that’s why I love it. I love what we have at Miller Park as well, last year showed us all how amazing things are in a jam packed park. St. Louis certainly has their own great fan base, and it’s always weird to throw out a personal bias to gauge the fan base of a rival, but I know the ambiance of their crowd is always good. Great stadium too. So fan, ambiance, and stadium wise it’s much better than this, but, even then, it’s still hard to have any problems with kicking back and watching a baseball game.
So Nick, with all kiss cam and stadium hijynx aside, nothing wrong with the sheer atmosphere of being at a game with you and 30,0000+ of your friends. No one team really trumps another in my book on that page.

I loved that Miller showed OBP and I think SLG on the scoreboard; something that B3 did when it initially opened, but then, for some reason that no one has ever explained, stopped showing them, despite having a massive scoreboard. I went to a talk held by the Cardinals director of marketing and he said that he did not even know that the change happened.
The music at Miller was a lot better. When the lineups were announced they played “El Distorto de Melodica” by Everclear. This song won best rock instrumental in ’97 or ’98 and is perfect. The Cardinals play some mash up song, which starts with the Stones “Start Me Up” and quickly devolves into some Hip Hop BS. Then we play so much country music. I know we are in the Midwest and baseball is a little bit of a country sport, but it is so annoying. We used to have “Real Redbird Moments” and “This date in baseball history” between innings, but those have been taken over by things like “Kiss Cam.”
Maybe the Kiss Cam just makes me so mad because so many people love it. There was even an article in the Post-Dispatch about it and how much the fans love it. It makes me feel like I am at a minor league game. The only time it was ever mildly entertaining was when 2 hot girls starting making out- that was on the screen for about 1.5 seconds. Guess the B3 staff deemed it inappropriate.
I kind of liked Bernie the Brewer going down the slide after homers and I could live with the sausage race. Anyway, I think Miller still has Busch 3 beat.

Stats Moved.
They moved the advanced batting stance. I think OBP is still on the main board, they put slugging on the left field wall and OPS is on the left side ring board behind home plate (Can’t see it you can do match by adding OBP + SLG, but that’s hard after a half dozen tasty miller products). WHIP is on the right side of the ribbon board behind home plate.
They do Kiss Cam once in awhile, I remember one last year where they kept cutting to the opposing dug out. It’s rare, but they do it.

What do you mean “you can live with the sausage race”. The sausage race is amazing. It is the original and easily the best of all the racing food products and mascots in any stadium. The sausages are part of the Brewer experience.
Kiss cams are just stupid things that almost every stadium uses in between innings. I don’t know if there is any reason to hate on it really it’s light hearted and harmless. If it replaced superior between inning entertainment in St Louis that is a shame but its not something that is going to put a team over the top or make them fail in terms of stadium experience.

I was just in downtown STL for the first time in about four years two weekends ago, and I was really surprised at how nicely integrated into the downtown area the stadium is. It made me wish Miller Park was in downtown Milwaukee.

Miller Park does have a kiss-cam.
I was at the home-opener this year and it was definitaly on. A couple of the people were actually kinda funny.

Yeah, Miller still has it
BTW is this going to develop into a Miller vs. Bud conversation? Because that alone willl favor Miller Park… not that either are that good.

i prefer me some
english ales. Pub Brown Ale from Sprecher is the best US-brewed substitute (with maybe Sam Adams behind that)
John Courage is best overall.
Newcastle is unfortunately the best available outside the midwest.

Actually
It’s actually from Idaho Springs (Which is in CO for some reason). They might have changed the name to imperial nut brown ale. I’ve seen it in a liquor store that went out of business in Grafton, WI. and at Brennan’s in Middleton, WI. I’m sure you can find it all over the place.

There are so many brown ales better than Sprecher's, it's not even funny
Get you some Brooklyn Brown. Sprecher puts corn syrup in their beer.

yeah
I went to a couple games with my sister last year, and when the Kiss Cam was on, we moved to different seats so we wouldn’t be a part of it

Thanks
Thanks for the help guys. I am sure that I will stop by and check in some more times this summer- despite being a St. Louis man with a St. Louis plan, I am still a Brewers fan.
As for Bud vs. Miller, I won’t drink anything made outside of St. Louis and rarely stay vere away from Busch, but sometimes I can’t help but enjoy a Milwaukee made PBR.

Chicago made, now, I believe.
There isn’t much made in Milwaukee anymore. Most of it has been gone for a while. If I want to buy local, I buy Lakefront.
