Chien-Ming Wang to the DL
Shocking.

Sounds like the Packers might get Michael Crabtree
Top-rated WR.

BJ Raji

I would have gone the other way, myself.
Bigger need at NT of course, but Crabtree’s a rarer talent in my opinion.

You and the rest of ESPN
They were really confused.
"I didn't realize his velocity was that high," said Macha, noting that radar readings aren't flashed during exhibition games.
I was surprised they took Heyward-Bey..
… but I wasn’t surprised they passed on Crabtree. Big Al doesn’t take WRs who he thinks would run a 4.6 if he had been timed. Really though, Crabtree has just about he perfect body-type for a cold weather WR. GB didn’t have a need there, but I think he could have been huge for Rodgers. And I get nervous drafting fat kids who smoke weed that high. Hope I’m wrong.

Interesting
Crabtree is the top-rated player on general manager Ted Thompson’s board and, despite significant needs on both lines and at outside linebacker, it seems likely the Packers will stay true to their board provided Crabtree is available.I thought Thompson was strictly a best-available guy.
"I didn't realize his velocity was that high," said Macha, noting that radar readings aren't flashed during exhibition games.
So did McGinn.
McGinn’s really good. He’s nailed GB’s picks before, though less often since Thompson’s been around. If McGinn says they had Crabtree rated higher, then I suspect that’s true. Thompson said afterward that he didn’t anticipate the board looking like it did when it got to #9. My guess is he was hoping Raji or Crabtree would drop but never thought they both would (Thanks, Al Davis). He may have regarded the two guys as having roughly equal value, I suppose, and then Raji made more sense due to the need and scarcity of the position. But to me, the chance to draft a guy like Crabtree could be comes along about once every 10 years.

They're pretty rare, it's true.
Particularly if they can rush the passer. But if Raji can’t and he turns into a 2 down player and Crabtree dominates physically they way many think he can, I still think it’s a mistake.

Random (Possibly Ridiculous) Q
Last night at the close of the broadcast, Ueck said something to the effect of, “And in his first ever compete game win, Yovani…” Has a pitcher ever pitched a complete game and lost?

Kevin Millwood
lost a complete game last week, 2-0 to KC

Yeah
There have been 30 or so each year this decade and back when relievers weren’t used much, one of the starters usually picked up a complete game loss.
The last Brewer to pitch a complete game loss was Chris Capuano on July 31, 2006.

Was that a part of his awesome winless streak?

The streak was in 2007

Ah
The prelude to the streak…What an unlucky bastard.

You'll often see a visiting pitcher go 8 innings but get the loss
Since the home team doesn’t have to bat in the 9th inning, that’s technically a complete game.

Wow
Soriano epic outfield fail.
"I didn't realize his velocity was that high," said Macha, noting that radar readings aren't flashed during exhibition games.
Khalil Greene was up with first & third, one out
He hit a deep fly ball to left and Soriano just kind of meandered to his left, like it was a lazy pop fly, and then started drifting back…back…back…and still didn’t come close to catching it. That thing was up there awhile; he just played it extremely nonchalantly.

Indeed
It does seem windy, though. Fukudome’s had a couple adventures in RF.
Also, read the latest in the Milton Bradley saga.

The Cubs seem to have a few players carrying injuries
Bradley,Ramirez,Marmol are all unavailable today but none are going on the DL at the moment.
Yeah, they interviewed Lou on TV
He said Marmol would be a couple days, Ramirez at least three days, and Bradley basically a question mark.
"I didn't realize his velocity was that high," said Macha, noting that radar readings aren't flashed during exhibition games.
I'm surprised it's taken this long.
I really thought they’d run into this problem last season.
It’s shitty, but I really enjoy the fact that Cubs fans are finally starting to realize how much high-priced aging talent they’ve got on board. Soriano’s contract gets truly ludicrous in the next few years.

Does anybody think that the Cards are now the favourites for the Central?
Or are the Cubs still the team to beat to finish 1st?
I ask this as it is normal to want the Cubbies to lose but the Cards do seem to be playing alot better at the moment.
I was thinking about putting up a poll asking this question
“Are you still cheering against the Cubs when they play the Cardinals?”
"I didn't realize his velocity was that high," said Macha, noting that radar readings aren't flashed during exhibition games.
Hm..
When Lee starts batting the cubs will be dangerous again. The cards are playing well, but I’m not sure if they can maintain. There 2-6 hitters are all batting over .300, but theyre not all 300 hitters
I'm not sure that Lee
will ever hit much this year, he has not shown much power since he had injury problems with his wrists.
For the Cards to maintain..
… they’d have to be one of the best teams of all time. Hardly seems likely.

Since Ludwick seems not to be a 1 year wonder
It does enhance there chances alot of scoring enough runs all year to be competitive.
I suppose it depends how there starting pitching holds up especially since they don’t exactly have a bull-pen that looks like it can handle alot of work.
I'm surprised ESPN isn't interrupting its draft coverage every 30 seconds..
… to give us Yankees/Red Sox updates.

You mean ESPN cares about the Yankees and Red Soxs
I would never have noticed ;)
