SB Nation Coverage
In a back and forth contest, the Brewers came back from a 4-1 deficit in the sixth inning with a three run home run from Bill Hall to tie the game, then took the lead with a two run eighth inning and gave it all back with a three run bottom of the eighth off Todd Coffey. Then, Corey Hart led off the ninth with a double and scored on Prince Fielder's second home run of the game to give the Brewers the lead, but Carlos Villanueva hit the first batter he faced, Lance Berkman, and Berkman scored on a sacrifice and an error to tie the game. After both teams went scoreless in the tenth, Corey Hart doubled to lead off the eleventh and scored on Ryan Braun's single to take a 9-8 lead. Mark DiFelice pitched 1.1 scoreless to pick up the win.
All told, Fielder, Hall and Ryan Braun went 10-for-17, scored five runs and drove in eight. For the second straight day, seven of the Brewers' eight starting position players picked up a hit, with J.J. Hardy (0-for-4 with two walks) the lone exception.
Jeff Suppan started for the Brewers tonight and allowed four runs on four hits and four walks in six innings, striking out six. It was the first time he'd accumulated six strikeouts since June 2 of 2008. Mitch Stetter and Seth McClung combined to pitch a scoreless seventh.

Suppan
The only reason Suppan had 6 strikeouts was the extremely generous strike zone, the homeplate ump really had a bad game. Suppan’s only chance is when he gets a zone like that, because he can’t survive throwing actual strikes.

Does CV get the blown save?
My roommate and I had this debate and we couldn’t decide if CV would get the BS because he would’ve converted it if it wasn’t for Hall’s error.

Yeah, you get a blown save if you blow the lead
No matter if the runs are earned or not.

Yes, he does
"I didn't realize his velocity was that high," said Macha, noting that radar readings aren't flashed during exhibition games.
DiFelice
He really did a nice job closing out the game. Those last few cutters against Erstad to close out the game were located perfectly.
Well, that was weirdly enjoyable...
I didn’t tune into until the 8th (a couple of pitches before Coffey coughed up the lead, so perhaps I’m to blame), and I still feel like I’ve aged three years thanks to the hour and a half of the game that was still to come at that point…
Good job, Mark!

Another exciting comeback
check this out. Give up a run in the top of the 10th, then win the game with back-to-back two-out solo shots in the bottom half.
Also, cheese.
Every pitch DiFelice threw was a cutter/slider
He does vary his release point, arm angle, and velocity quite a bit, but it’s all the same pitch.
Scored three times and detonated an indisputable in four visits to the batting box.
Let's call it a culider
It collides with the catcher’s mitt quite often.

Only if you embrace Supparra
For the general lamosity of Suppan and Parra

I resent lumping Suppan in with Parra in any situation
Scored three times and detonated an indisputable in four visits to the batting box.
isn't that what Papelbon claims to throw?
If Papelbon uses it, it shouldn’t be associated with anything DiFelice did, does, or will ever do.
Would calling something a "slutter" ever make it past the print and TV censors?
Of course, I don’t pay much attention to the AL, so I wouldn’t know anyway…
Think of it
Those were probably the very best pitches of his life so far.
Guy’s got to be just amped right now.

Heh
Prince Fielder ‘slumping’ has an .818 ops. What a beast.
