I miss Ned Yost
Imagine if Yost were managing a team with Zelous Wheeler on it? Every time Wheeler did something good, Yost could cheer, Hey, Zelous-y!
(Man, that song just might be older than Jordan…)
"I will agree that the attitude [at BCB] is ridiculous and they have done so much to instigate animosity and then block us from responding. Real mature!"
I never think of that stuff
Til I hear it from you.
Obscure baseball records and more at my blog, Recondite Baseball.
Jeff a heads up
It looks like Gamel is appearing twice on the Nashville results (3rd and last).
BCB, the preferred above replacement level sarcasm supplier.
yeah
I noticed that too. very odd.
Also, cheese.

My first reaction:
“Weird, but not weird.”
My second reaction: “Well, I guess we’re one step closer to having nine Gamels.”
"The reports are that he is getting better. The definition of better is nebulous."
Speaking of Gamel...
Hard to believe, but by going 2-for-4 with a double he actually lowered his slugging percentage, that’s how much he’s been mashing so far.
Rough day for Scarpetta today
Allowed six earned runs and couldn’t escape the first inning in game 2 of the doubleheader.
"The reports are that he is getting better. The definition of better is nebulous."
Caleb Gindl
He made Goldstein’s Monday Ten Pack:
The South Atlantic League was loaded with prospects last year, so Gindl flew under the radar last year while finishing among the circuit’s top five in doubles, hits, and on-base percentage. Standing only 5’9", Gindl is the kind of player who gets the most out of limited tools and needs to keep performing to prevent scouts from focusing on what he doesn’t do. He’s hit everywhere he’s gone, and this year is no different, as after a 7-for-12 weekend that including a pair of home runs, he’s now hitting .397/.455/.621 in his first 16 games for the Manatees. If you love him, you compare him to Brian Giles, and while that seems more than a little over the top, the guy sure can hit.
"I didn't realize his velocity was that high," said Macha, noting that radar readings aren't flashed during exhibition games.
