Game Thread #-2: Brewers at Dodgers
The Brewers have said goodbye to the 2009 Cactus League and open a two-game set with the Dodgers tonight before opening the regular season Tuesday.
For the Brewers, Yovani Gallardo makes his final spring start. He's had a hit-or-miss spring, going 2-2 with a 5.30 ERA in six spring starts.
For the hometown Dodgers, it's Chad Billingsley, who has posted a 6.35 ERA in 11.1 innings over five starts.
Game time is 9:10 and it's available on WTMJ.
Friday's game thread is now open.

Lineup
Assuming the MLB Gameday Lineup is correct, the lineup is the standard setup with the exception of Corey batting second, Hardy batting 5th.
Indication of an opening day lineup change?
Three walks through two innings for Gallardo
Gameday “Premium” is strange but I’ll probably get used to it just in time for it to change back. I do like that some of the hitters supposedly love and hate four-seamers.

Jason Kendall - power surge!
"The reports are that he is getting better. The definition of better is nebulous."
Hey, it's Guillermo Mota
Walking Corey Hart to start the inning. Poignant.

Wow
A Corey Hart walk and a Jason Kendall HR in the same day. It’s like an eclipse and a blue moon at the same time.

Maybe Gameday isn't 100% accurate
But that Prince K appeared to be on six pitches, all out of the zone.

I hate to keep picking on Witrado, but
I just read his blog entry on Escobar being sent down. This is the opening line:
Anyone thinking Alcides Escobar should make the Brewers 25-man roster and be the starting shortstop with JJ Hardy moving over, well, the manager doesn’t agree with you.

How is Tanyon Sturtze still a major leaguer?

We thought he was the BP pitcher
as well as the third bullpen catcher. Just getting some work in.
(I have no idea what the Dodgers management are thinking with this club.)
Sheesh
Mota, Sturtze, and Jeff Weaver? How did Kip Wells not end up in LA?

Weaver, ugh
offline conversation:
“I’m so glad that Weaver didn’t make the Brewers last year, and that he didn’t even stay on the Sounds.”
“The Sounds had better guys in the rotation.”
“That reminds me, wasn’t Lindsay Gulin in the Dodgers org a few years ago?”
The Rays have already shown that a team can win with Dodgers castoffs. Dioner Navarro says hi.
Hey, Tony Gwynn made it to the ballpark after all

You’d think he’d know the SD area, but I suppose he’s got other things on his mind today.

Two singles and a two-run homer
Another indistinguishable day for David Riske.

Nevermind
I see what happened. Macha blew through all of the reserves. That still doesn’t explain why Duffy shifted to first and sent Nelson to left. Whatever, it’s still an exhibition game.
