Tom managed to take a shot and mention Peavy again.
I have to say, though, I emailed him regarding shuttle buses on opening day. Although he didn’t have the answer, he was very polite, and wished me good luck.

Think I can get a shuttle bus from Ohio to the game?

well...can I catch a shuttle from Sacramento to San Francisco for the real opening day?
Or rather the game-after-opening-day.

You might need a space shuttle.
O-rings probably won’t operate well in the chilly midwest-in-April weather, so best of luck with that.

I guess we'll have to wait and see...
But I really don’t like Hart batting second. K’s near the top of the line up can be killers, especially ahead of Braun and Fielder. Someone that might even think about taking a walk there would be nice. Plus we can use Hart’s speed on the bottom half of the line up so we only need one hit 6-8 for a run. Hardy can’t give us that. I really want Hardy’s 25 more walks and 11 less strikeouts (2008) higher in the lineup, especially since he’s such a pure fastball hitter. The protection of Braun and Fielder helps make him productive and until last August, Hart had been productive without any real protection hitting 5.

To me this is a bit revealing
I’m guessing that Macha planned to have Hardy at #2 and Hart at #5. But I also think he is playing the very hot hand right now.
Hart tore up spring training and that is what got him moved into the #2 spot.
The real debate is how much Macha should alter the lineup for streaky players.

There was a rumbling about this about a week ago.
Macha wanted to try this lineup to get Hart more pitches to hit.
"The reports are that he is getting better. The definition of better is nebulous."

And that's the key
If he can learn to lay off even only pretty bad pitches (not even the good ones), he should get a lot to hit with Braun and Fielder behind him. Certainly a lot more than he’d get with Hall “protecting” him. Hardy’s unfortunately earned his way back into the 5 spot by showing some plate discipline. Heck, maybe they’ll even teach him to bunt his way onto first base. It didn’t make a whole lot of sense in the 5 spot, but would be huge in the 2 slot, especially if he can convert 1 in 4 or 1 in 5 for base hits.
Lining up a starting pitcher to see Hart, Braun and maybe Fielder to start the game will be brutal. There’ll be a dozen games this year when the Brewers starting pitcher already has a homerun backing him up.
And do strikeouts really matter that much?
I like it.

For a second I thought you meant Hardy would bunt his way onto first
Somewhere Garth Iorg just had a painful flashback.

So
Assuming the rainout today and no double-header in the next couple of days, do we pitch Soup or YG tomorrow?
