Taylor Green slow to heal; R.J. Seidel out for the year
"Taylor Green is 'taking longer than we thought' to return from offseason wrist surgery, Melvin said. The Brewers don't expect him back until June, and Green may be asked to return to the Arizona Fall League at the end of the season."
"[Seidel] slipped on some ice during the winter and "tore up" his knee, Melvin said, and underwent surgery."
Also says that Alex Periard and Zach Braddock "should be able to pitch in 2009." Great!

If you're wondering what Braddock's mysterious injury was
This is from colbyjack at Brewerfan:
I have been informed that Zach Braddock had a procedure in mid-December to help move the ulnar nerve in his throwing arm. Initially there was some fear that Braddock would have to have another Tommy John procedure, but according to the Doctor that performed the most recent procedure, Braddock’s elbow joint is just fine, which was somewhat suspected since he wasn’t suffering a significant loss in velocity. Quite the opposite, as Braddock’s fastball was up to 97 last spring, as it was his command/control that suffered the most.
He should be fully recovered later this month [this was posted in January], and be ready to throw in spring training. Oops. Also, I’m guessing Periard ends up having shoulder surgery, despite what Melvin said.
jeff: but i shudder to think of the bullpen analogy to sending the runner

Taylor Green ascension to Mat Gamel-like prospect mission status:
postponed.
Sucks on Seidel, too, he probably would have pitched in Appleton some.

For a second my heart sunk
I thought it was RJ Swindle.
My apologies go out to Seidel for not knowing who he is.
