Giants 10, Brewers 6
W: Joe Martinez (1-0)
L: Jeff Suppan (0-1)
HR: Aaron Rowand (1), Bengie Molina (1), Randy Winn (1)
MVP Mike Cameron (.262 WPA)
LVP: Jeff Suppan (-.392 WPA):
Jeff Suppan had the Opening Day outing we expected from Jeff Suppan, allowing six runs on six hits, a walk and two hit batsmen in four innings.
The Brewers, however, had some luck hitting Tim Lincecum, chasing him from the game after three innings with three runs on four hits and three walks. The Brewers briefly led in the top of the fourth before Aaron Rowand's two-run shot gave them the lead for good.
On the bright side, Rickie Weeks and Mike Cameron combined to go 3-for-4 and were on base nine times, including five walks, and stole three bases.

Keep 'em tucked, boys
See! See! Everyone said the pitching would bring this team down!

Joe Martinez gets a win in his debut despite giving up two runs
Touch ’em all, Joe.
jeff: but i shudder to think of the bullpen analogy to sending the runner

Ugly game on both sides. Crummy weather kept Lincecum and Suppan wild. All of the walks by Giants pitchers were ugly but just as bad was the Brewers not capitalizing on them. And then the Brewer bullpen looking not so hot. One game, nothing more nothing less.
Being a Giants fan it was nice to see their hitters take advantage of the short part of the park a few times.

Don't underestimate Suppan.
He can suck in any weather.

Well I'm sure that if Gallardo had been pitching
He would’ve given up even more than 6 runs…‘cause he doesn’t have experience…even though he’s the best pitcher on our staff.
Yeah.
(I know one game doesn’t matter all that much in the long run, but still)

Suppan
He is what we thought he was. I am sorry if we have to Jeff Suppan on the starting rotation when he pitches like this we will be in trouble.

so would someone care to explain...
…what the heck happened? I was relegated to watching the live score.
Specifically:
- Was Suppan that awful?
- How did we score 6 runs and lose?
- How did the other pitchers besides Suppan look?
- I heard the umps were terrible. Thoughts?

- Yes.
- We left over ten men on base, couldn’t capitalize on a bunch of walks, and the hardest hit ball for us was probably Counsells fould ball into McCovey Cove. Counsells.</em>
- Also pretty poor. Bush and Julio both gave up a HR right at the beginning of their stints, if I remember correctly. McClung also gave up a run pretty early, and had control issues, giving up three walks in two innings. ERA’s after this game; Suppan – 13.50; Bush – 18.00; Julio – 9.00; McClung – 4.50. Also, Suppan isn’t good at baseball. Except for having the first hit/RBI of the season for the Crew.
- In general I didn’t think they were too bad. The only call I can think of that I didn’t like was late in the game, a Giants player (I don’t remember who) hit a ball down the 3B line that looked like it crossed foul, but the ump called it fair.

There was also
a called 3rd strike on (I think) Hall that didn’t look particularly close.

On the bright side
Project R.I.C.K.I.E has begun in great shape.

What a waste of
the Rally Lobster!!! New rule: no RL usage on days Suppan pitches, just wasting the RL’s mighty powers on someone who should be flipping soy burgers in LA!
The Bambi's Bombers won because they played the game like kids! Let's do that again!!!

Today I wore my Corey Hart jersey that I got for a birthday present
Tripped and fell a bunch of times today, for some reason I just was unable to walk.

I bet you tried really hard not to go to that key party, too
You couldn’t help it, though: you’re a swinger.

You know I was wondering how long it would take for someone to understand this

I wore my Lincecum t-shirt and that didnt help him at all. Maybe it was because I had to wear it under my suit at work.

At least
You don’t have to give Gorman a bath and clean the fish tank unless either of them are dirty.
Please wait til the Crew has an off day to do those things.
