Stephen Strasburg
Stephen Strasburg, the consensus #1 overall pick in this June's MLB draft, was in town tonite. . . if you live in Utah. I went to see him pitch. The dude can bring it. Or, as the Wharvey gals (‘Oh Brother’) say, 'he’s bonafide.' Kind of an off nite, just 10 K's. The Utah hitters were sitting on his #1, and even college guys can hit that if they know it's coming. Didn't see any shattered aluminum. He began mixing with a slider as the game wore on, and that proved to be a potent mix, and generated the K's. He's all business out there, very unlike Evan Longoria a few yrs ago---he seemed to be carrying a mirror in his back pocket. The real disappointment for me was the presence, or lack thereof, of coach Tony Gwynn. He never ventured outside the dugout.
I took some photos, and am unsure why I cannot upload one here. In any case, here's video of the consensus #1. http://aztecchannel.sdsu.edu/media/features/051309_BB_Feature_Strasburg.wmv

Pretty cool that you got to see him
You should think about posting this one the Nationals blog, too, with any more details you might be able to remember. I’m sure they would like to hear about it.
:) + Suppan = :'(
Utah?
man… that’s rough
"That's not a weird stat. Rickie is a run-scorer," Yost said. "It doesn't matter. It doesn't matter," Yost told reporters. "See, you guys have no concept. He's a run-scorer. So there's nothing weird about it. That's what he does."
Whole lot of people not fans of anything except maybe needle point

. . .and their religion
But I ain’t goin’ there.
Actually, you won’t find a better spot for hiking/biking, and trailblazing.

If you put them on flickr or photobucket or another image hosting site, you could link to them.

I tried to broker a pre-draft trade for Strasburg
but the Nats weren’t interested in my 2004 team-signed Brewers helmet. I even offered to throw in Jamie’s Estrada jersey.
Also, cheese.
That's not fair
They should have to honor any deals Jim Bowden agreed to.
"I didn't realize his velocity was that high," said Macha, noting that radar readings aren't flashed during exhibition games.
Just to add
I wore my Brewers hat (of course) to the game. My plan was to somehow get SS to wear it for a couple of seconds while I took a photo, and publish it MLB-wide. What a hoot that would have been! Alas, security was very tight, and announcements were made that effectively put the kibosh on any kind of (my) nonsense like that.
In a similar vein
Aaron Hicks, 14th-overall pick last year by the Twins:

There was also one of Josh Vitters, the Cubs’ first-round pick in 2007, that I can’t find at the moment.

Should've got one of those mini-helmets
And done some camera angle trickery.
