Escobar
With Weeks’ injury there are suddenly calls for Escobar to come up and play 2b in MKE. But if all he can muster at AAA is .268 with little power, I am not sure he’s going to be much use to the big club right now, particularly if he is learning a new position.
Escobar isn't...
The same kind of player as Weeks is. He doesn’t hit for power..not this year…not ever. What he hits for is average. Right now he’s about 30 points lower than his career batting average. His greatest tools are his glove and his speed…which is why he’s as highly regarded as he is.
In my opinion (and the opinion of several others as well), what he lacks isn’t power…but plate discipline.

Jaun Sandoval
Is Juan Sandoval related to Pablo?
Cards Announcers On Gamel's First Career HR, ""That’s all they need is another home run hitter".
Juan is from the DR
Pablo is Venezuelan, so probably not.
Obscure baseball records and more at my blog, Recondite Baseball.
I never noticed Escobar's Hall-esque RH/LH splits
BA vs. LHP: .391
BA vs. RHP: .204
Cards Announcers On Gamel's First Career HR, ""That’s all they need is another home run hitter".
Yeah
I was worried about it at the beginning of last year, too. He ended up hitting .381/.435/.497 against LHP and .314/.341/.419 against RHP, so there’s hope that he’ll continue to adjust to righties, I guess.
"I didn't realize his velocity was that high," said Macha, noting that radar readings aren't flashed during exhibition games.
