Yes, you're reading that right. Russ Ortiz, who entered the game as a reliever, hit a home run tonight, and the Brewers still won.
The Astros jumped out to an early 1-0 lead when Kazuo Matsui doubled and scored in the first, but the Crew scored two in the top of the fourth to take a 2-1 lead, and, after Russ Ortiz's solo home run, scored two more in the sixth on J.J. Hardy's RBI single and Casey McGehee's sac fly.
That was all the offense the Brewers would need. Dave Bush pitched six solid innings, allowing just two runs on seven hits and a walk. Carlos Villanueva, Todd Coffey and Trevor Hoffman pitched a scoreless inning each to protect the lead.
J.J. Hardy went 2-for-4 on the night and drove in two runs. Ryan Braun went 0-for-2, but walked twice and scored two runs.

"That's not a weird stat. Rickie is a run-scorer," Yost said. "It doesn't matter. It doesn't matter," Yost told reporters. "See, you guys have no concept. He's a run-scorer. So there's nothing weird about it. That's what he does."

Baseball tonight just showed the final out.
I enjoyed watching Braun make the catch and immediately untuck his shirt.

Did Telly just wish Dave Bush good luck tonight?

maybe
I hear the light rail is dangerous when crossing the street.
"He had some firsts," said Brewers manager Ken Macha. "His first homer, his first Major League start, his first error and my first gray hair."
Wow
I thought I was the only one who’s been that far off track the last the last couple of days.
"The reports are that he is getting better. The definition of better is nebulous."
Maybe he's headed out.

Wow.
28 walks in 4 games. Statheads, last time the Brewers did that?
Dont the answer to your question but
The Brewers are averaging 4.61 walk per game at the moment before tonight, the record for a season in franchise history is 4.09 in 1999.
But it's all about the benjamins, yo'

Just noticed the Bucks got the #10 pick in the draft.
Still don’t particularly care, but just noticed.

BBs
With tonight’s game, the Brewers have now drawn 175 walks while only issuing 134. Contrast this to last year when the Brewers had only 22 more walks than their opponents over the entire season. This trend is very encouraging, and has really helped the Brewers overachieve to this point in the season.

Next thing you know
they’ll try to give us their manager too
I have to do everything myself

"I didn't realize his velocity was that high," said Macha, noting that radar readings aren't flashed during exhibition games.
Bush over the past year
He’s been really good. Bush got off to a horrendous start last season, but since this time last season, he’s pitched 11-6 with a 3.67 ERA over 196 innings, with 0.96 WHIP, and a K:BB ratio of almost 3.
Suppan has been prety good also.
Not sure 12 million good. But probably not worth the amount of shit he takes among brewers fans.
Agreed
Suppan hasn’t been 12 million good but he certainly doesn’t deserve the crap he typically gets. (not lately anyhow)
One bad start and he will get drilled by fans but I think he has prolly earned the right for a bad one over the last 6 starts. After all if Looper or Bush had a horrendous one we would prolly all forgive them.
Good thing we're getting these wins in early
June does not look like a promising month
"You have no honor!" - McClung to Fukudome
really?
4 @ FLA (who they just swept, 18-21)
3 @ ATL (19-19)
3 vs COL (15-23)
3 vs CWS (16-22)
3 @ CLE (14-26, completely horrificaust)
3 @ DET (21-16)
3 vs MIN (18-22)
3 vs SF (19-19)
3 vs NYM (carrying into Jul 1, 21-18)
…for a total record of 161-186.
I think they’ll be fine. I’d be surprised if they lost more than a couple of those series’ (maybe ATL and DET?)
WOW
I have definitely not been paying attention. Haha geeeeeez. I wasn’t aware the Sox, Indians, Twins and Tigers all sucked so much….well that makes me feel better, thanks.
"You have no honor!" - McClung to Fukudome
if they only lost a couple of those series
the worst they could do is a .570 winning percentage. Would you really be SURPRISED for them to have a month with less than a .570 winning percentage? Methinks that’s a little bit overconfident.

interleague games are always tough for the National League

Because NL teams
don’t typically carry a DH, they are playing a 4th OF who is more of a speed/OPB guy. So they go into a park at a distinct offensive disadvantage. I think the Brewers might be able to match up with most AL DHs this year.

And I was listening to 1250 post game. I’m as optimistic about our club right now, as I have in a long time. But with that said, can you start hanging up on people who call and say we are going to win the world series? We’ve only play 1/4 of the season, and anything can happen in the next few months.
Come August and we are playing so well still, we can use the P word, but in mid-May? Hell no.
