Mark DeRosa
As pointed out by KLSnow in his daily roundup, Mark DeRosa is now an option. I think it would be a good idea for a new poll to see how us BCB's feel about Rickie's replacement. At the time of the previous poll, a player of DeRosa's caliber was not an option. Just imagine him getting his revenge on the Cubs - with us! Rotoworld says that the Indians want ML ready pitching. Do the Brewers have anything available?

Filling Rickie's hole...
Really?

yeah... especially internally...
that’s a little riske’ for a poll question
"That's not a weird stat. Rickie is a run-scorer," Yost said. "It doesn't matter. It doesn't matter," Yost told reporters. "See, you guys have no concept. He's a run-scorer. So there's nothing weird about it. That's what he does."

DeRosa
I desperately want DeRosa to get traded to the Brewers. He was the lone Cub who I didn’t actually hate. He would be a perfect fit for the Brewers. That being said, I have no idea who the Brewers would trade for him. Therein lies the rub.

DeRosa's not a very good second baseman
"I didn't realize his velocity was that high," said Macha, noting that radar readings aren't flashed during exhibition games.

yeah
but the flexiblity of DeRosa would give Macha all sorts of options and keep everybody fresh. Besides Braun and Fielder, we wouldn’t lose too much if anybody else got injured.

I think having four guys that can play second and four guys that can play third is plenty of flexibility

Right
We have plenty of infield options defensively. If we’re gonna bring somebody else in, it’s gonna be for their offense.
However, if somebody came in and replaced McGehee, that flexibility shrinks.

Replace McGehee with Hall
Call up Cole Gillespie.
I think we’ll somehow survive with only three guys at both second and third.

Gillespie hasn't been playing well this year at all.
He’s only slugging .303. Though, I guess if you want to ride a hot streak, he does have a 1.206 OPS in the last week.
:) + Suppan = :'(

McGehee is young
I think he is doing fine for the experience he has. I would much rather see Matt Gamel in the lineup though. As for Bill Hall, that man was awful last year and is still awful this year and has no upside. i am all for trading Bill Hall away for anybody!!!!

I would love for DeRosa to be a Brewer
He’s not too expensive and he’s only on a 1 yr deal. But we have no pitching to give up, except maybe Dillard, but he wouldn’t be enough anyway. Stick with internal options.

Yea..
I don’t think we can give them ML ready pitching. Nor would I want to even if we did, as it is I’m kinda worried about the next few years.
You're not laughing with me.

I'd rather stab myself in the eye with an AIDS-nail than have him on my team.
That’s just my two cents.

….that’s a “no” from you then?

DeRosa would be better than internal options I suppose
But he is going to be way too expensive for what he’s worth, and the Brewers don’t have pitching to spare anyways.
Take away their two fluke years and he’s basically Ray Durham (with more versatility, but we don’t need versatility, we need a starting 2B)
Ryan Braun: He loves it.

Cost is too high
I think we’d have to give up too much to get him. Mark Grudz isn’t a ton worse and wouldn’t cost prospects.

Grudz' back worries me.
Better to keep it in the family.
or something like that.

It would depend on the cost
I like the idea of getting DeRosa, but the cost might be a bit too steep when we do have decent internal options. Counsell/Hall platoon at 2B with Gamel at 3B is a pretty good choice.

Pack your bags Big Red!
McClung could be a serviceable starting pitcher for them. He’s a power guy that would probably like starting. He’s……eh screw it.
I think if the Brewer go after DeRosa they will probably overpay. I didn’t mind rolling the dice on CC for a year, because I though that we had a shot at winning it all. DeRosa in not going to be that difference.
Still, it would be fun to see the Cubs fans fall over themselves in lamentations.

McClung was the only one that came to mind for me as well
As for CC, let’s not even compare.

Over on HalosHeaven
There’s a thread regarding trading one of the Angels’ surplus of middle-infield depth (Aybar/Izturis/Super-Ute Figgins/Sean Rodriguez (AAA)) to the Crew. I had to step in to stop the insane speculation about trades for Braun or Gamel, but the Angels could use some arms….

my favorite trade
It was hard to contain my laughter when the guy suggested aybar for braun

Asking price WAY too high for DeRosa
The Indians gave up three iffy arms for a full season of DeRosa, and expect someone to give up a major league ready arm for 3/4 of a season of DeRosa?

Other thread from Let's Go Tribe
I want this trade to happen, if it is a similar package the Indians game up
