Ryan Braun is "The King of Swagger"

Hey there Brewers fans,

My friend and I are die-hard Ryan Braun fans and we are making every effort to officially deem him The King of Swagger. We have launched what we hope will become his official website: www.kingofswagger.com

We think Braun's most intriguing characteristic is his unwavering self-confidence -- his swagger. Aside from his immense talent, we think his invincible mindset is the reason he's enjoyed so much success in his young career. Having the kind of impregnable self-confidence Braun exhibits is a characteristic everyone can benefit from; kingofswagger.com will try to spread the swagger of Braun to each of its visitors.

Check out the site when you get a chance; we update it every day. If you guys have any ideas for the site, shoot us an email: tdavis@kingofswagger.com

Have a happy day

No offense, but I don’t think that aspect of Ryan Braun needs to be glorified any more than it already has.

exactly

this is why other teams hate him, something not with a negative connotation would be a preferrable nickname…

What I really would prefer that you could just say his first name, and people know who you are talking about, no need for a nickname!

The designated hitter rule is like letting someone else take Wilt Chamberlain's free throws.

Agreed.

How big do you have to be for "Ryan" to become a household name?

Probably about as big as "Michael."

Should have named him LeRyan

I don't hate Kendall like everybody else, I'm a non-conformist like that.

Besides

King of Swagger doesn’t roll off the tongue. We could go with something like the Caliph of Cool or Sultan of Sweet with his simetic good looks. Besides, those are much more alliterate, and fun to say.

"That's not a weird stat. Rickie is a run-scorer," Yost said. "It doesn't matter. It doesn't matter," Yost told reporters. "See, you guys have no concept. He's a run-scorer. So there's nothing weird about it. That's what he does."

How about this moniker

Since Michael Jackson’s career is pretty much in the toilet, how about “The King of Pop”?

Just Beat It...

…until I see Braun do Thriller, I MJ’s still the King of Pop ;)

I'm one of the biggest Braun fans on here

But I don’t think there’s any need to make him into more of a larger than life character than he already is. I, for one, don’t want to see Braun get beaned for being ‘cocky.’ Not only is this title going to get him more enemies in the baseball world, but the sports world in general.

Again, I think Braun’s attitude and other people’s perceptions of it get him in enough trouble that us fans don’t need to lend/create more for him.

could we add an option that is more anti- this idea than a simple "no"?

You could flag the post as self-promotional spam

Disagree if you want, but this is kind of in the spam gray area.

It’s self-promotional, certainly, but it’s also somewhat relevant.

I'd say when your login name is the name of your website

it could definitely be considered spam.

Point of information!

I agree that Braun might be the most confident, but everybody knows the King of Swagger is the one and only Craig Counsell.

Ryan Braun: He loves it.

by SRB on May 20, 2009 6:02 PM CDT reply actions

yes let us

give Braun a nickname that reinforces the way teams feel about him and the team in general.

That’s a big no

by nrudolph on May 20, 2009 8:49 PM CDT reply actions

in all fairness

he’s the one that said “We’ve got our swagger back”, which Rock (or BA) misinterpreted as “we’ve got our slugger back” (in reference to Prince Fielder). In any case, he does have “swagger” but there’s nothing wrong with that…

Valid

You guys all make a valid point about not naming Ryan Braun, King of Swagger, but honestly I think its totally appropriate. Ive been a die hard NBA, NCAA, and somewhat NFL fan for the bast 8 years. I hated baseball. I hated when games would take up tv time on fox. I hated when i couldnt watch the simpsons. One day I turned on a Dodgers Brewers game and Braun was up batting. They dude is crazy. I see how you guys can call him cocky but holy crap this guy has so much confidence. He single handled got me into baseball. King of Swagger might sound too much but look at it this way. Lebron James tagged himself as King James. He did this coming out of highschool. At first he looked like an ignorant teen. But know everyone can agree he is King. Braun never called himself King of Swagger but he has pointed out that he has confidence in himself. Some players may not like him for that, but when a guy like Braun comes into the league and finishes 3rd in the MVP race, I think he deserves it. Also, he agreed to an extension that was well below what he deserved. He took one for the team like a true franchise player. I live in LA and ive been fallowing the Dodgers every game of this season. If I could i would trade Manny for Braun because I would know that Braun wouldnt ever quit on the team nor would he take his role lightly. People crown him King of Swagger!

And

he won’t be missing the next 50 games either….That would be the worst trade evahhhh

by DoubleJ235 on May 20, 2009 9:10 PM CDT up reply actions

it's amazing...

that many first time posters are posting in support of this idea with long-winded posts. Two of them even referenced Lebron James

Are LeBraun, Dodgerdog (never posted on the dodgers sbnation site) and kingofswagger.com all from the same IP or general geographic region?

by PagsBrewCrew on May 20, 2009 9:24 PM CDT up reply actions

why was my comment taken off? I went to Granada Hills High, same high school as Braun. I;ve recently caught on as a fan. funny how two new positive posts can spark so much controversy!

What

Dude i dont know what your complaining about. I have Ryan Braun as one of my Google Alerts. This post showed up in my email and ive read the articles about some guys naming him king of swagger. Ive never heard of kingofswagger.com until i came on here. relax

I dont’ care what you call him, or what people in the leauge think about him as long as he continues to rake. That is all that matters.

It pretty much as been proven that the majority of the MLB will not through at him. They are not going to risk it. This is all just generated in the media and on Blogs.

So then

how do you explain the amazing number of times he’s been hit this season already? Poor batting stance? I think it’s the same as last year just about, so I’m pretty sure that has not much to do with it.
